How did you get all of that for $15 and 2 gameboy games? Were the gameboy games unreleased English copies of Sword of Mana or what?!

Oh, and I may sound like an old man by saying this, but I never treated my games badly when I was a wee one.

I think they were... Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Gex

I don't know why, but this kid just doesn't know the value of a game.

His parents buy him 3-4 new games a week and he beats them within days (Only plays easy mode) and then trades them in

I took decent care of my games, I wasn't as anal then as I am now but 75% of the time they went back into the cases when I was done.

You made off like a bandit! I could never even hope to get all that for anything less than a couple hundred bucks. Plus, I never mistreated games when I was young, but I think that not taking care of your games is more of the type of person you are, not your age. Just look at all those messed up used games at Gamestop or EB. Not everyone that had those games were kids. It's just stupid people that dont know how to put their games in their cases or to not tlouch games with chocolate covered hands. Stupid peons!

It says next to all of em what they came with, All of the 64 games were cart only

But if it says Manual only... it was just the manual and same with the case.

I know how you feel. I taught my nephew how to take care of his cd games since he first got a Saturn. But he still doesnt seem to give a dump about taking care of his games. Now hes 14 and still doesnt take care of his stuff. Everytime he wants to trade in a game, we havta look for the damn manual. Whats so hard about keeping game manuals inside those dvd cases?

I bet he will start to care when he has to start buying his own games. Most kids dont care because they dont buy them with their own bread @_@

I think that's the answer right there. It's a good thing that 2600 carts are indestructible, because I sure left them lying on the floor when I was a kid. Years later, I've loaned PSX/2 games to my teenaged cousins only one game at a time, and only if I didn't really care about the games, and only after making obscene threats about what would happen if the games didn't come back complete. I cut off one of them for a year until his sister found my Metal Gear Solid 2 manual behind a radiator.

Hey, this could easily lead into a rant about used games not being complete, but I'll let someone else drive us there.

I think carts and cassettes were far more durable than CDs, so we probably had an unfair advantage. Still, that's no excuse for kids like my nephew (8), whose CDs look like little people went ice skating on them. I don't even loan out audio cds anymore. If someone wants to borrow one I make them wait 5 mins and burn them a copy. The .20 investment is worth the peace of mind knowing that my original is safe.

I've seen both sides of the care scenario. A buddy of mine leaves CDs and random carts everywhere, while my cousin that came with me to CGE takes as good of care of his games as I do (the best he can). It doesn't have to do with age, as I'm trying to teach my nephew to take care of his games (he's almost 7), but the type of person with the games.

But it REALLY bugs me when kids (or parents) write their name on the carts/CDs with a SHARPIE. I can't STAND that...

Suddenly, the fact that my parents got me only a Game Boy when I was growing up makes a lot more sense.

If anyone's still wondering why a crash isn't happening, I suspect it may be because too many people are buying their kids everything.

this is completely a parenting problem... i mean, my parents taught me how to take care of items, and i repected that- if you saw my gaming collection that i owned as a kid until now it's NM all the way through. i mean, even colecovision stuff that i started getting when i was like 4 and a half- none of it is messed up.
look on the bright side... it'll make your nice playstation games that more desirable in the future.

So let me get this straight. You totally RIP OFF this poor kid, and you have the fucking balls to complain about how he takes care of his stuff?

Do his parents know you more or less stole all the stuff they paid for?

They knew about every bit of it. They told me to just take the stuff.

They said "Give him $10" so I gave him $15 and some gameboy games.

I constanly asked "Is this ok that i'm taking so much?" And their response "Yeah, take what you'd like. He won't play it anyways"

redeye, the kid should have payed him money. This stuff needed a good home and all he was going to do was destroy it. and do you for one second actually believe his parents care......obviously they don't

You know, I'm in total agreement with RedEye here. I was about to get into a "yeah kids tend to mess up games" but...wtf? These are all common PS2 and GameCube games, it's not as if you're saving them for posterity.

I know my brother messed up one of his N64 carts by leaving it on a floor (label got scratched up) and I'm about to take all my controllers and put them elsewhere, I don't need my new SNES controllers messed up...but we're talking about common games here.

Jeez, and I thought my $25 for fixing somebody's computer was a ripoff (and tried to get them to pay less). x_x

Hell, I'm still terrible. The discs always go in a case... which case is a question best answered through 20 minutes of looking in cases and finding discs label to label in cases that aren't even theirs.

That said, all the manuals are always in the cases, mainly because I rarely even open them.

I buy my games, consume them and then relegate them to the piles. This is because my need for new entertainment outweighs my give-a-shit by far.

i think he did what was fair. he asked repeatedly about the price and they said $10 was fine so he paid $15......could have paid $20 and i'm sure it wouldn't have made him a difference. it's what made them happy. and i wouldn't take any less than $20 to fix any computer. I don't care what's wrong with it. if it's family it's free unless it gets very elaborate, but everybody else should pay atleast $20. my time isn't free. Figure they're going to pay any pc place atleast $50 an hour to do the same thing so if you charge them $20, it's far less than they'd ever get charged elsewhere. but you have your beliefs and i have mine, just sharing.

If you're fixing PCs to supplement your income, I could see doing this. In any case you are saving them money so there you go. If I get a PC to fix up I also do stuff like install Spybot S&D on it, tweak a number of things...but in this case I should add that I had the thing for about a month before I could get it finished, lol.

Anyhow, I'd hate for people to ignore what RedEye was saying in the face of all this: Sure, you can get these games, but for goodness sake have some decency.

Yeah, you got a good point there. You would be surprised how many grown people dont know how to properly clean a cd. Some of it is just plain ignorance to certain things.
