Tell me, gamers... collectors... what is the ONE thing you have (video game related) that you would never part with? You've lost everything. Your home, all of your worldly possessions... but this ONE thing you'll take to the grave. Or untill I pry it from your skeletal hands BWAHAHA.

If you'd sell this ONE thing to save your home, list that instead.

If you'd never keep ANYTHING you own facing not making that foreclosure payment or mafia guy coming to "collect one way or another", post that here instead too.

Nothing in the world would convience me not tp part with something if it was serious enough. You can rebuild a collection and regain games but it's all just tools.

The one thing I'd part with last? Suikoden II and my hint book. :D

My NES, of course. I had it even before I was born, seriously. Even after all the years I've had it, I have had no major problems. I never had to get a new NES, and I don't intend to. Mine is truly blessed. :)

My DIgital Press price guide. You may think it sounds ridiculos but tehres a story. I was getting nachos at CGE2k2 and Joe comes up to me. He asks me if I ahve this book and I said no but I need one. He said here have this one behalf of him and the rest of Digital Press. He hopes I stay with the hobby. I almost cryed I felt so honored. I never fit in like I did then.

Wow....toughie. I have a ton of obscure and rare games, and honestly, there are only two I'd REALLY consider. This is so commonplace, and I'm a FF hater (for the PSX/PS2 ones!) but I'd have to say Final Fantasy 3 (complete) plus the strategy guide. The second contender was Suikoden 2 + guide ;)

well, a tie for first (we'll leave this up to a game of rock, paper, scissor) is my boxed Odyssey or my Ms. Pac Man Coleco tabletop.

To me, there's happiness in both of them.

My Starfox Super Weekend cart. I love Starfox and this was the crown jewel of my collection. Although like some others said if it was between me and my family I would sell it.

Hmm....what an interesting question. Well, I'm a player, not a "collector," so my collection's always in flux. I've sold/traded items I said I'd *never* part with just because I was ready to move on. But the four items I shall never, ever sell would be my 4 Hozer-made hacks - Mystery Science Theatre 2600; Blair Witch Project, HozerQuest; and the original fully-working proto of Venture II (Made before the Treasure Chest Editions).

I will also never ever part with my Videogame Commerical Archive DVD or my Stella at 20 Vol. 1 and 2 DVDs - the only ones in existance that I had custom made.

Hmm. I can honestly day that I have nothing that would fit into this category for me. It could all be reacquired if something were to happen. But I'd be pretty sad if I lost my old NES.

I don't think there's ANYTHING I own that I wouldn't sell if it came right down to it, but there are a few things I'd sell last, and that's mainly because they, too, are things people have given me.

To me, stuff is stuff. I'm 30 and still have the same Atari 2600 I owned when I was 5, but I'd sell it in a heartbeat for the right price.

But.

The one thing I don't think I could part with would be my Commodore 64 diskettes. I collected Commodore software (mostly pirated) from 1986 until the early 90s. 700+ disks in all, and I still own them all. Each one of those disks hold more than software for me, they hold stories and memories from those times.

Sure, anyone can download California Games and play it on a C64 emulator. But when I look at *MY* C64 California Games disks, I remember my friends Mark and Justin. Justin was and is a good friend of mine, and Mark was a friend of his from school. Mark was the first guy we knew who had California Games, and where we got our copy from. While we were copying it, Justin informed me that Mark had the distinct talent of being hit in the eye with whatever object is thrown in his direction. It was uncanny. I think Mark had left the room to get a Coke or something, and when he came back in, Justin threw a floppy diskette at him. Now if you've ever thrown a 5 1/4" floppy diskette at anything, you know they don't fly straight. They curve up to the ceiling, flop around, and then fly back down the arc in some other weird angle. Believe it or not, that disk shot up to the ceiling, did a loop, came down and KNOCKED THE GLASSES OFF OF MARK'S FACE. Mark started yelling, "my eye, my eye" and Justin and I were laughing our asses off. Then Mark asked us to leave and I asked if we could finish copying California Games and he said yes, so we all sat there in silence while the disks finished copying.

So when I flip through my old C64 disk boxes, attached to the software titles, I remember stories like that. A cart is a cart is a cart, but those disks, with the software on them in that order, with handwriting from me half my life ago, are irreplacable.

And, believe it or not, 99% of them still work, despite being stored in cardboard boxes in garages for the past 10 or so years.

The only item I have that I would not sell if financially necessary is a stuffed bear I was given the day I was born. I've had it my entire life, he sits on a shelf in my bedroom now. For years while I was a little kid with no friends, bad English and a speech impediment he was my only friend. So, basically, short of needing to save someone's life, I would not part with the bear.

Feel free to make your jokes now. ;)

Funny thing - I have the exact same answer as Chad, only replace "bear" with "monkey." Actually, he's kind of a monkey-gorilla mix... a gorinkey, if you will. He's also French-Canadian, and a stud with the ladies.

Otherwise, I'd then go with my acoustic guitar, Daisy. 1985 Ovation Legend. We're very much in love.

Nearly the entire game collection, as wonderful as it is, could probably be replaced (with loads and loads of cash.) I think my Arcadia Multicart is the only thing I'd probably never locate another available copy of.

Upon further reflection, there are three items which qualify as "must-rescue" from my house, three I wouldn't leave behind for any reason: my kitties.

Everything else, even if it can't be replaced, can live in my memory if need be. But my three best friends? Nope. They're coming with me, no matter what happens to me in the process of getting them out safely.

See, this is what I never understood as a kid in "Fire Safety" programs. They always told us that cats, dogs, birds, any other type of pet can be replaced, but your life can't. I never understood that, because pets are like a best friend, they can't be replaced and are a part of the family in most house holds. I don't know where I'm going with this, but I always felt puzzled as a child by it and thought the firemen were being unrealistic.

Agreed...

but the last thing I'd probably part with is my complete Neo Mr. DO kit. I know I'm in a small minority that enjoy that game, but I really like it, it's kinda hard to find complete, and it's the only complete kit (with matching serials, btw) I own and it's minty fresh. Plus I got a good deal on it.

That or my Armed Police Batrider PCB because someday I'm gonna own a cab to play it the way it should be played, and because someday I'm gonna beat it. Man, that's a hard game!

Eh...

I've got a bunch of very valuable stuff, but anybody's welcome to fly over and offer me enough money to make selling it (and buying a new copy) worth my trouble. Unless they've got their mind set on defacing something (or ripping something apart like some people on eBay are doing to map books and such  ) -- in which case they're going down at all costs.

That said, I think the only thing I really can't part with is my Sticker Game Boy (http://home.comcast.net/~edoscuro/sticker_gb_front2.jpg) that I've kept unopened all these years. There may be a couple million of them (probably opened long ago), but I'm keeping mine. Even as a little person I knew that unopened things were worth more, and while Legos always came out of the box, a few choice things were left in their original packages.

Not game related, but my Travis Bean Artist electric guitar. I'm in the UK and these things are not common over here...besides my dad bought it for me in 1978 and it cost more than a Gibson Les Paul.

Its nice to own an uncommon US made guitar, but I would sell it for my family if I needed to.

I probably would hold on to my original Game Boy, the first game system that was ever personally mine. So many hours logged onto that thing, and all I had to do was get a perfect report card. My first real experiences with The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, and the first games I ever beat were on that little grey portable box (Super Mario Land: 6 Golden Coins was my first beaten game).

The games could go, so long as I still own my old beat-up, green-and-yellow displayed joy box. :D 8-)

Oh yea, and my cat. She's a bitch and thinks she's a princess, but I luvver. :) (Whew, almost forgot about her... don't want her clawing me in the middle of the night...)

Good point. I hadn't even considered that, as I don't really think of my cat as a possession, and therefore not legal for sale.

My Sonic the Hedgehog 10th Anniversary coin. It would have to be worth hundreds of thousands before I'd sell it. I don't even know if it's that rare right now, but it was only available in a special limited edition collector's box from Japan, so there can't be very many of them. Japanese collectibles are bound to be among the rarest video game items there are, I would think.

Man, if I had to sell all but one thing I don't think it would even matter. Whats one thing? Might as well sell em all. The collection would be broken I doubt I'd ever start collecting again. Seriously I can't pick one.

If I had to....... there isn't anything I wouldn't sell execept things that can't be sold wife, son, family friends etc. I'd even sell my very soul to save my family if it came down to that.
