This is all about eye candy
1] Choose any game console that is pre Xbox, Gamecube and PS2.
2] Name upto 3 of the absolute best looking games for that system.
3] Note any special fx, cut scenes or other memorable graphic high points.
I look forward to reading your selections \^_^/

Atari VCS:
California Games
Winter Games
Summer Games
ANYONE who thinks the VCS was nothing more than blocky crap needs to see those 3 running on a real VCS. Sure the PSX generation won't likely be impressed, but if you're at all familiar with the VCS library of games, these are stunning examples of what that machine could do.

SNES: 1) Rendering Ranger: Huh?It looks better than any PS1 and saturn 2D game.....and this with a 3,58 Mhz cpu <---------------SICK!!
2) Donkey Kong Country 1-3: same as above
3) Super Turrican 2: best gfx(exept rendering ranger) I've seen on a 2d-console....the bosses are unbelieveable
N64: 1) Pilotwings: The 3d graphics are sooooo detailed.Good god..u can even see the chicken ladder at a farm!!
2) Perfect Dark: Looks STILL amazing for an "old" fps
3) Wave Race: I dropped nearly KO when seeing the wave effects

I must say that newly-found Sunman has some very nice graphics--the "box exploding after-effect" graphic made me blink at first; I thought the explosion was reflected by the background wall.
Just about any Sharp x68000 game...graphics on that machine were very detailed for only having two floppy disks to work with!
What else...besides Last Blade 2 and Metal Slug 3...
I would also like to put a vote in for Contra The Hard Corps. It's relatively ugly (especially compared to the earlier SNES title) in screenshots, but boy does that game ever move. Your normal machine gun sets out a nearly solid line of round "bullets," and they're "solid," as opposed to flashing as in the NES game. I think you can see about 10 at a time, maybe more. That's before you start to count in the insanely big multi-part bosses moving in the background, too.
Most detailed monster I've seen on the Genesis, though, would be the biological monster/demon boss from Shinobi 3/Super Shinobi 2, with all these little parts on his face and such moving. Not as big as Super Metroid's Kraid, but there's a lot more happening here (though his attack moves are terribly limited).

PCE/Duo/TG16:
Street Fighter II: Dash - When I first heard that it was on the same machine that produced the visual nightmare known as Victory Run, I didnt expect much....but WOW, on par with the Genny and SNES versions.
Sapphire: Excellent lighting and great detail.
Lords of Thunder: I simply love the look. Lots of on screen enemies that are pretty well animated and lush colors.

Have you even played the Games series (California, Summer, Winter), Pressure Cooker, and Solaris? Those games have the best graphics of any 2600 game IMO.

Hmm let me think about some memorable moments:
Ninja Gaiden II (NES)...in the scene before chapter 3, where youre watching the tower of lahja in a cut scene
Gunstar Heroes (GENESIS)...Theres a boss , not far from the end, its a running boss made up of green balls..and hes runnign around something that looks like a nuclear reactor....the rotation in that part of the game amazed me.

Nintendo 64:
1. Lylat Wars (StarFox 64) - An absolute visual treat (even to this day) and it left me jaw dropped when I first saw it. Amazing stuff.
2. Perfect Dark - Amazing. Period.
3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - A truly atmospheric game, mainly in thanks to it's wonderful, sweeping visuals.
Sega Dreamcast:
1. Soul Calibur - Still looks like a current generation game - and even more amazing considering that it was a launch title.
2. Shenmue - Again - it looks like it's running on an Xbox.
3. Dead or Alive 2 - Fast. Clean. Detailed. Slick. Exactly how a fighter should look.
Super NES:
1. Donkey Kong Country - Without a doubt, the finest looking game on the console.
2. Stunt Race FX - The BEST 3D graphics on the SNES.
3. Axelay - Excellent. Very detailed and smoothly scrolling.
Sony PlayStation:
1. Gran Turismo - Pushes the boundaries of that 32-bit machine to the edge.
2. R-Type Delta - The laser effects are absolutely stunning and the environments are fantastic. I was so surprised how well R-Type transferring into this quasi-3D blaster.
3. Final Fantasy VIII - The rendered backdrops are amazing from the word go, and every FMV is absolutely breathtaking.

@Inkor -
Inkor - your posts are certainly suspicious. If you have worthy conversational material to contribute I don't want to discourage you, but if you've got nothing to say other than "I agree" to multiple posts you'll likely find yourself rejected by our community in short order.

Since this thread has been unnecessarily bumped, I might as well justify exhuming this corpse by throwing in a few picks of my own.
Atari 2600
Escape From The Mindmaster (Starpath Supercharger) - It's 3D maze is pretty impressive.
Pitfall II - I was surprised when I saw the waterfall and the undulating underground lake. Didn't know the 2600 could pull that off.
Battlezone - The enemy shot physics are really accurate as they fly past you when you're moving.
Atari 7800
Midnight Mutants - A giant Al Lewis graphic, screen sized bosses, and lots of good locations.
Alien Brigade - Nice backgrounds with lots of variety.
Tower Toppler - Great 3D effect as the towers smoothly scroll.
Atari Lynx
Blue Lightning - Amazing scrolling for its time.
Todd's Adventures in Slime World - I love how the environment is always pulsating and animated.
S.T.U.N. Runner - The Lynx easily throws the 3D graphics around as you fly through tunnels shooting drones.
Intellivision
Thunder Castle - Full size animated intro screens with large mazes that have animated sections (especially the 'devil' section).
Hover Force - You scroll over an island city with buildings and parks with a variety of terrain, well done graphics.
Diner - Great pseudo-3D levels with smoothly running animated elevators and sliding floors, and more levels than I could ever manage to reach.
