In my quest to own virtually every game system ever made, I came across an Atari Lynx today. It's complete in its box and even comes with a game. Problem is, it doesn't work. However, the seller only wants $5 for it, currently.

Are Lynxes easy to fix? Is there any documentaion anywhere I could follow for common problems? I checked Google, but didn't come up with anything.

I don't know what the problem with this specific Lynx is, but I see many broken ones being sold on eBay, and thought maybe there's a common problem that could easily be fixed.

Thanks for your help!

No power light no nothing?

Clean the game and make sure it's inserted correctly (inverse insertion is easy to do with Lynx 1's). Also doublecheck proper battery insertion, as the Lynx 1's and 2's have totally different insertion, so see the diagram. Make sure batteries are fresh alkaline, as many rechargeables won't work with the Lynx 1 especially. It likes it's batteries bigtime.

That's the easy stuff.

No, apparently it's getting power, but games just won't play.

Sorry, should have mentioned that.

I've had a lot of broken ones and they were very hard to fix.
In fact out of 6 broken ones I only got 1 to work.
Maybe it's just me but I found it to be one of the hardest handhelds to fix. :o

I'll probably just let this one go, then.

Of course, I may get it just to get the box. Then I can buy a working one loose and not have to worry about that.
