I think the Atari really shines in two player mode, I have a few like combat, but what are some classic 2 player (at the same time) games released for the Atari 2600?

I've found that Surround is rather fun with a friend. I've lost many an hour to that game and it's simple-yet-addicting formula.

Maze Craze is also danged sweet.

Oink (one blows, one builds)

Hopefully people realize the premise behind Oink!

Marble Craze

My cousin and I found another great way to play Surround. Play one of those "video art" variations that lets you erase. Then one person draws a continuous trail, while the other follows behind trying to erase it. Depending on how close you follow, it can be tough.

My favorite is Imagic's Quick Step.

I'll definitely second Quick Step, a vastly underrated game, one of the best two-player games EVER.

Maze Craze is up there too, especially if you play the variations where you can drop fake walls behind you. Good clean fun, that.

Another oldie that doesn't get enough credit is Flag Capture. Just play it with 2 players, it's a cheap investment, and you'll see that I am right.

Another one that often gets overlooked is Oink! where one player is the wolf and the other is the pig "collective".

Don't forget Wizard of Wor. Shoot the other player for big points!

Two player simultaneous games rock, and the 2600 is one of the best of the early consoles to experience it.

Nice suggestions. I totally forgot about that variation in Maze Craze where you can drop a wall!

Warlords, definitely and who can forget good old combat.

Nothing quite like getting in a big fight with your brother after beating the tar out of him in Combat. LOL

I like playing Plaque Attack. It's a fun game with 2 players.
