Then what is the 2nd best? GameTZ is practically useless without subscribing.

Yup, I was a member long ago before this sub crap. Then an e-mail popped in my mailbox, and it was about GTZ sub-time. Somehow though, I just had to start again. SO I bought some subtime, and even got my friend to subscribe too. And I can't say I hated it either. It's not a bad cost at 5 bucks, but if you're not gonna use it, don't bother. And again, I'm glad I subscribed, because this is where I got my first NGPC. :-D BUt then second best, is... I have no idea. I have tried a couple others. Maybe 3 of the 4 I tried completely sucked, with no games at all. And then there's TGN. This is the best of the 4, but I hate it. I even spammed the whole chat saying GTZ rules, TGN sucks. But, I have to say, it's probably the second best Game Trading Website.

You can still get around gametz without subscribing but it defenantly is more time consuming with all the pop ups and not being able to e-mail users directly. I think subscribing is a good deal though...for 12 months its 19.99 which is only $1.66 per month. Some people would rather buy a new game, play it and beat it in 2 weeks, and then go back to EB/GameStop/etc...to get a lousy $15 store credit on a game you just bought for $39.99 + tax. Personally, id rather pay $1.66 per month so I can trade for a game of equal value rather than get ripped off by the big corporations. I tried switchouse a while ago and wow did that place suck. Good luck!

I used Gametz before it went subscription only, and frankly, all I got were BS offers and a bunch of people trying to scam me for higher than eBay prices. I've ALWAYS gotten better trades and purchases here on DP and on a couple of other similar forums. All I get on Gametz is my time wasted.

I've had plenty of great trades both here and at neo-geo.com

Personally I love Gametz. I have been there for almost 4 years and have 300+ trades. I have found that in the last year its mostly been a trading site for GC/PS2/Xbox games which I am not into. Trade me Genesis games baby :D I found this site(thanx to Maxlords) and have found some great deals here too. I also lurk at the NeoGeo forums and the CGCC boards. I think what you get a from a trading site depends on what effort you put into it.

i was down with GTZ for a couple of years and it was slow going. i liked the selection there, or the apparent selection but the data base entry method was so time consuming. the other big trouble was that not many members were living up to the spirit of the rules, as in being prepared to trade. for some reason people would list items they had no intention of trading or only trading for that elusive copy of "radient silvergun", why bother listing it then? then there were the members who seemed to see the site as their own private rip off game store " i paid $40, i want at least $39". then theres the problem mentioned by others, the rip-off offers, i eventually pulled the nomad and toploader from my listing due to constant insultingly low cash offers (even when i posted "no cash, trade only"). the site seemed to be infected by that brand of idiot calling itself juggaloos, spoiled wannabe trench coat mafia types.

to be fair i made 4 decent trades thru there, would have made more if there had been more of a "classic" gamer presence. best deal was a lynx with 5 games for one of the phantasy star games.

i've kind of lost the taste for thru the mail trading as a whole unless its a simple straight up deal, i get tired of all the haggling. luckily i've got the trademeets going on and can move my doubles in real time.

Jeez, didn't expect so many people here would hate it! I will say that I think a recent thread in their Site_Feedback forum with some people complaining that DP got mentioned in EGM's article on classic gaming while they didn't was funny.

Now Bill (runs the site) is a decent guy, and they've been quite good about getting things fixed up recently. Such as with people listing stuff they didn't want to trade (that would be me), that was fixed by introducing a "collection" tab separate of your Available (for selling/trading) games. I'm using the site to list my games, for good or bad.

glaring omission of GameTZ

The premiere site for game trading is www.gametz.com

And that's about it, the rest of the discussion spirals into X-Box nation, PC magazines and advertising 'economics'. I found the comments above laughable, but I guess that just registers how I feel about the site in question.

There's probably a very good reason why GameTZ isn't getting much coverage by mags, and that would be promoting a place where you can swap for current games isn't very appealing to publishers looking to -sell- those current games. Bottom line for most magazines are the game publishers (as they pay for the ads) and they're not about to piss them off. I wouldn't be surprised if there was already a decision amongst editors to ignore the place.
