Alright, I'm getting started on this a bit late, fifteen hours from now, starting at 1:30am EST tomorrow morning, I will be hopping on a train and headed NorthEast for a three day odyssey to New York City.

I already have plans to check out Broadway, the Statue, a couple of museums, China Town, and a Japanese book store my sensei told me about.

So, where ELSE should I go in NYC while I'm there? Any sweet stores or arcades around? Videogame related places are definitely cool, but name ANYWHERE of interest you think I should check out. Thanks!

Scores.

Boston Comedy Club on 3rd st between Sullivan and Thompson is a fun time- reasonably priced too, with a lot of up and comers, I saw Dave Chapelle and Jim Breuer there many a night.

Jeykll & Hydes (either location) or the Slaughtered Lamb: Fun fun fun for the horror geek in you, at Walt Disney World prices (But what isn't around here).

Do me a favor and stay the hell out of the path between 6th ave at 40th and the Port Authority Bus Terminal between the times of 5 and 5:45 pm. My tourist tolerance is way way down of late and I'd hate to have to murder you.

I think you'd find that difficult. We Ohio farm boys put up a fight! LOL

Videogamewise, check out the China Town Arcade on Mott St. Probablly the last true arcade in the city. On Elizabeth St, not too far from here is a game store...the name escapes me. I -think- it's J+L. I think they're pretty expensive or it could just be their Neo Geo stuff. When I saw KoF '96 priced at $200, I laughed and left the premises.

Game Express, across from Penn Station, 128 W 32nd St. near 7th Ave. Lots of good games for all systems, a bit pricey.

James' Games: 7th Ave., near 41st St. Havent been there in a longggg time. It wasa small store, lots of import stuff and anime.

Multimedia: 18 St. Marks Place (East 8th St., near 3rd Ave.)

Other cool places: Intrepid Air/Space Museum Pier 86 12th Ave & 46th St

Looking to dance/party? Webster Halll, 125 E. 11th Street. Nice mix of various types of music.

Times Square: 2 monster sized movies theaters, a wax museum, some arcades, Virgin Megastore, and lots of other stuff I'm probablly forgetting and/or didnt notice lol

And if it isnt too old, take a walk through The Village, around W.4th. Lots of funky lil shops and places to eat and some rather interesting characters populating the area.

Chelsea Piers is a great place to go for some skateboarding, hockey, b-ball, and any other sport you can imagine. http://www.chelseapiers.com

And even though most of the rides are closed, you may wanna check out Coney Island here in Brooklyn. Some of the minor rides are still open, plus you have the NY Aquarium.

Of course there's The Bronx Zoo, Central Park, Prospect Park/Botanical Gardens, BAM....

and you can't forget to get a hot dog from a street vendor. Damm im addicted to those things, Allways have to get at least 2 Dirty Water Dogs every trip I make into the city.

Keep away from the DVD vendors on the street, unless your into the bootleg movie theater versions of movies, But sometimes worth it if you dont want to wait for the movie to come out. plus you can get any new movie out.

And no the watches there selling are not real any of them. Even from the guy that comes up to you with the movado box and recipt.

Yeah, I've been to New York before, so I know about these things. Plus the fact that I wasn't born yesterday. :P It was awesome, the last time I went to new york was with a HUGE group of people, and we all went traipsing through central park and bought fake oakleys and wore them for the rest of the trip. Man that was cool.

Too bad you didn't post this sooner! Jessen, aka Tetsu, is a pretty good tour guide of the city from what I've heard :)

You can PASS on the game store GAMES & JAMES (mentioned above). I popped in there 2 weeks ago and it has gone to hell. The game selection is terrible, the prices are insulting ($150 for a GBAsp?) They are mostly into selling bootleg anime tapes that they copy in the back room.

its a terrible terrible store.

If you see the store at 259 Canal Street in Chinatown with the name, "GAMES AND WATCHES - WHOLESALE RETAIL - SUPER NINTENDO - CASIO - GENESIS - SEIKO - GAMEBOY - FASHION WATCHES", I don't recommend you go in, because they actually don't have any Super Nintendo, Genesis, or Gameboy items.
