I just saw a commercial for Rockstar's upcoming game Manhunt, and it looks, well, FUCKING WICKED would be an understatement.

Anyone know anything more about this?

All i know is that someone bails you out of jail, and makes you kill people in order to survive. There will be around 25-30 weapons, stealth kills (think Tenchu), instant replay deaths, and lurking in the shadows to hide from people. I really think it looks awesome, and cant wait to test it out.
QOF, you may be interested to back order (if you can) the PSM that had it as its main story. It was only about 2-3 months ago.

It looks awesome. Finally a game that combines to street thug story with stealth gameplay. It's like a cross between GTA & MGS. So what do we call it? Metal Gear Auto? Grand Theft Solid?

I can just see it: Grand Theft Solid: Sons of Vice.

No, that's just dumb. *smacks self*

I have to admit I am psyched for this game as well, even though people will be bitching up a storma bout this one.

Yep, it was inspired by 8MM so you know it'll be twisted. I'm mildly interested in the game but I don't get the feeling that this will cause -as much- furor as GTA did. GTA lets you kill people arbitrarily whether they're good or bad. Manhunt has you going after 4 murderous street gangs, and the character you yourself play isn't a saint either.

There will be controversy, but don't expect the local 5 o'clock news on this title.

I read the review in Game Informer, and I'm "dying" to play it. :D

I wonder if they had to pay off WWE for the rights to the name. IIRC WWE was producing a TV show last year called Manhunt that had a similar sort of (paintball hunting a man) theme but it was scrapped at some point well before distribution.

Can you trademark/copywrite "Manhunt"? That's a pretty generic name.

If the game bears the same name and enough similar aspects of the project that WWE had under development than a case of intellectual property theft could be made. It's just a possibility, I have no idea what similarities there are but it would have to be more than just the name considering that the project was scrapped.

I would hope it's during.

This game just doesn't get me going, personally. I need something completely insane like Smash TV.

speaking of "Smash TV"
isn't it weird that Nintendo allowed to release this game on their console....uncut
I mean, killing lots(millions) of people for score and fun is near perversion
*looking at cutted snes games like Mortal Kombat1,wolfenstein 3d etc*

Well, they did cut the flying eyeballs when you step on a mine. Strangely enough, I like the SNES version better than the arcade version. The music is better, and it just seems like it plays nicer.

Smash TV is definitely one of my top 10 games for SNES. Its so cool, because you just kill everything you see.
I do like the music better on SNES, but overall i like the arcade version better.
Mainly because of the sticks that you use. :)

Actually the show did come out for a few episodes. It was basically a team of contestants vs. a group of ex-wrestlers/bodybuilders/whatever in an exaggerated paintball gam, it's nothing like the Rockstar game.

Bravo's "Reality Of Reality" series showed how this series was both manipulated and faked. There were scenes fillmed weeks later at a park in LA that were caught on tape by a local news station. Some contestants had to shave their heads during filming, so they had to wear bandanas and hats to cover up their hair when re-filming.

Got 8.5 at on ps2.ign.. got this yesterday, I kinda think rockstar definately went a little too far with the violence level on this one. Okay GTA you could shoot and kill people but hatcheting someones head off with a axe? and strangling them with wire? I mean okay, its a videogame, but it only takes some nutter to flip some day and start suffocating people with carrierbags. This might be going back to the shop, although I might hang on to it as it may get banned if the papers hear about it as campaigns in the past have shown.. anyone agree with me on this one?

No, the Ngage makes gamers look bad. This is just a violent videogame. Get over it, and stop crying about it.

Amen brother Butta. I got it and enjoy the hell out of it. It's got good atmosphere, and using the headset was a great idea (the "director" is talking right in your ear). It's violent, but it's the same shit (death animations) Tenchu and others have been doing for years.
