Anybody else read the Scorched Earth column, "Is That a Lightsaber in Your Pocket....or are you just happy to see me?", in the Computer Gaming World November Issue?

Robert Coffey is one sick F'er. He wrote his column about his experiences playing the Star Wars Galaxy MMORPG. He claims the game is boring so he spiced it up a little.

He chose to be a dancer as his character and then proceeded to give private exotic dances to the mostly male audience in the cantina.

He convinced them that he was IRL a 23 year old waitress who used to work at hooters. Guys on the game lined up for "her" to give them dances and type sexually suggestive things to them. "She" became rich in the game doing this.

Are we males really this pathetic and desperate?

D

Incidentally, I love reading his columns every month. I don't always agree, but they're always entertaining.

That makes sense to me. I wrote a sociology paper in college about online sex and virtual communities. As research I went to a couple of MOOs and posed as a woman with a tame but attractive sounding description. I'd say about 15 times an hour someone would come on to my character looking for sex, pictures, both, phone sex, you name it they wanted it. It was actually kind of disturbing.

No, I didn't have netsex with anyone, but it definitely made for an eyeopening experience. I'd hate to be a woman and have to deal with that every time I came on the net.

I'm sure this is the story you gave your wife Chad, but the rest of us suspect something far more sinister. LOL

Heh. Actually, my wife watched me do it, though she wasn't my wife at the time.
