Info is taken from iggy on mmcafe, which was taken from him from japanese BBSs.
New Hero Team-3 new characters
Garou team-Terry, Tizoc, Joe
Art of Fighting team-Ryo, Robert, Yuri
Outlaw team-Billy, Yamazaki, Gato (MOTW)
Kim's team-Kim, Chang, Jhun x_x where the hell is choi?
Women's team-Mary, King, Mai
Athena's team-Athena, Hinako, new character
New Japan-benimaru, Shingo, Daimon
Ikari warriors-Ralf, Clark, Leona
K' team-K', Maxima, Whip
Single entries-Kyo, Iori
The new system involves you picking one character as your "team leader", giving them access to an extra move (similar to the MOTW top mode giving you a new move). There's also a new system called "air followup", which by name, sounds like it may be similar to aerial raves from MvC2 or Dust combos from GGXX.
Oh, and yes, its going to be on the neo geo.
Kinda strange that Kensou and Bao aren't in there, considering they made a big deal of em in 2k1's ending.

Now I haven't played any of the newest KoF games...did Whip ever lose that annoying yell and teleport-via-whip thing from '99? I always come up against her in a fight, usually the first or second, and I always dread it. Now Choi...decent fighter but I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped him to make room for one of the other more classic fighters or this new character. I want to see who's going to show up :D

Jhun was from 99. He's lame.
Whip's still got the screaming teleportish move, its just all but worthless in pretty much every installment past 99.

Ah, you knew exactly who I was talking about. Yes, I got Jhun and Choi mixed up. Choi...I really don't like him, but it's not because he's devoid of character and...energy...the bouncy kind. Jhun, yes. I have yet to discover anything terribly interesting in that guy.

On the plus side, Yamazaki and Billy, two of my favorite FF/KoF characters EVER form a team with Gato, who's one of my more favored characters in MOTW. Also, I thought Jhun was pretty cool myself. In my book, he gets points for never, EVER using his hands in any of his attacks. :rocker:
On the downside, it's like SNK is trying to forget about Andy Bogard. First, he's absent in both Capcom vs. SNK games, and now this. Tizoc's a cool character and all, and Terry's better than Andy, IMO, but he was one of the first playable characters ever in an SNK fighting game. That's gotta count for something, right? And why the hell have they not yet resurrected Eiji Kisaragi? That ninja had potential, and every fighting game needs a ninja. If not Eiji, then where's Lin? I thought he was the greatest of the new characters in KoF 2000. And they dropped Chin in favor of Hinako? I never was really fond of the "schoolgirl meets sumo" concept. One more thing; this is just a raving SNK fan's opinion, but GIVE ME ROCK HOWARD.
I'm not saying that the cons outweigh the pros. We'll just have to wait and see if the KoF series can still hold its own, even on its tenth anniversary.

I agree with you, totally in regards to Andy. Its almost as though Andy's missing out on big events is his new gimmick. If so, SNK has transformed one of my favorite fighters into a joke character, not unlike Dan.
The Air Followup is going to be what I'm looking forward to more than the lineup themselves. I just PRAY it isnt something completely over the top.

Well, a few rumors/educated guesses from the move sheet that just showed up on the net...
First off, I'm DAMN happy: women's team w/ King/Mai/Blue Mary. Damn, I REALLY have to learn Mai now.
It looks like it's some sort of tag in-tag out system. You choose a team leader and only the leadoff character can use supers.
Things will only get more and more interesting, I wonder if the tag system is true and if so, how it will affect the gameplay.
EDIT: n-g.com with the force and the fury, here's a semi-finalized roster...
Solo Entries: Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami
New Hero Team: Ash Crimson, Duoron, Shen Wu
Garou Team: Terry Bogard, Joe Higashi, The Griffon
Art of Fighting Team: Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, Yuri Sakazaki
Korea Team: Kim Kaphwan, Chang Koehan, Jhun Hoon
Ikari Warriors Team: Leona Heidern, Ralf Jones, Clark Steel
Outlaw Team: Gato, Billy Kane, Ryuji Yamazaki
Female Team: King, Mai Shiranui, Blue Mary
Japan Team: Benimaru Nikaido, Shingo Yabuki, Goro Daimon
Female Team 2: Athena Asamiya, Hinako Shijou, Marin
New NESTS Team: K', Maxima, Whip

Additional details:
using BC and CD you switch your characters out. No more CD attacks.
The battle ends if your team leader is defeated. Your leader also has access to an extra super, think an HSDM from 2k2.
Yes, air combos are in. Not as nutty as marvel 2, but its there.
To be honest, I like the sound of this-the game sounds alot different from prior KOFs, so the series may finally be getting the long-needed change that alot of players in other countries have been demanding.

Yep. Can't wait for a PS2 or XBOX release... not on the Gamecube. The controls aren't really formatted for most fighters. I don't want any roms, though. It's WAY too soon to think about emulation. And let's not get started on the fact that most arcades within an hour of driving distance from my house suck. But I will play SSV, SvC Chaos, and KoF 2003 in the future, probably through the PS2.

King seems to have gotten rather serious upgrading since the 2002 break. Her Double Strike now has a high and low strike to it, rather than two middle fireballs. She's been souped up according to early rumors on n-g.com. Hopefully they won't nerf her at release!
KING. IS. GODDESS.

The SvC rom is already out there, I'm sure SS5 is not far behind, if not released already.
There is no word yet of any SS5 ports either.

SSV has been dumped, but hasn't been made publicly available.
I wouldn't be surprised at a PS2 port, but nothing has been made certain yet.
Apparently thanks to training with Saishu, Shingo's moves have flames randomly.
As for the new main character-I've seen castlevania artwork that looks more masculine then that guy.

I've worn a dress, I'm watching four men wrestling in spandex, and I'm listening to gothic crossdressing japanese men sing to me through my speakers.
...yet, I still feel much more masculine than the new main hero of KoF 2k3.

Dante from Devil May Cry is in The King of Fighters 2003?
Eh. At least they're coming up with new characters. Lord knows that the series needs a few.
But where's May Lee? I guess it's too much to hope that "Marin" is a mistranslation of her name.
And I suspect that they'll work Choi into Chang's attacks. All is not lost.
Oh yeah, the PS2's King of Fighters 2000/2001 pack was delayed to December 10. Mark your calendars, especially if you want those free trading cards.
