I love the unique approach of writing the review from the perspective of the main character. That made the review much more entertaining than the common stuff you see in every gaming magazine. It didn't just tell me how many polygons are used in the game, but gave a more practical description of the game.

I thought the review approach was original, but I thought it lacked a lot of detail about the game. I don't care about polygon count, but I do care about how the controls work, etc.

7. Nicely crafted, but missing some things. The main downfall for me is that the reviewer names the composer as a HE and not a SHE. That tells me that the reviewer enjoys the game, but doesnt have a passion for it.

A bit more explanation of the game itself would help as well. There's a lot of story mentioned but there's a need to actually describe the game that's being reviewed.

Great viewpoint, but honestly, I'm not getting a lot of the AMPLE information needed for a review. It's pretty, well written (if a bit out of character at times) but it's not a detailed review. Oh.... yeah. 7/10

I love the reference to Koji Igarashi-san, I give your review a 9/10. However if it would have been a little more longer and informative you would of got a 10 easy. Good Job. :D

Good review, but the viewpoint didn't do much for me. It get especially clunky at the end:

"I must also mention that the character designer from Symphony of the Night, Ayami Kojima, also designed me. My attire is exquisite. My motions are fluid. "

6/10.

Very good, I must say. It's also quite descriptive. I do have a few nitpicky complaints, like he calls Medusa and the Golem just mini-bosses. There isn't just one boss to the game, you know. But that shouldn't be anything to trifle over. It's funny how he wrote it as Leon himself, but it does get a little confusing and loony when he refers to himself. I just have a few minor complaints here and there, but I like this review. Then again, I like Castlevania, so I just may be a slight tad biased. :P

Excellent review. I liked the unique way in which she conveyed herself as Leon; very innovative. It gets the job done right and tells me all I need to know about LoI. I'll consider picking it up.

It's a very original viewpoint, and extremely well-written. The person who wrote this is quite obviously versed in many forms of Philosophy and Rocket Science. Also, I believe she may be hot. very hot.

Well-written,Made sense of how he liked the game, and gave in his own words how he enjoyed the game.

10 out of 10!

I loved it, and that's exactly what I want in a review. All aspects of the game were covered nicely and I don't think it could have been written much better. Good job!! :)

I'm sensing "solicitation". That's tantamount to "cheating". Unless these first-time posters rushing in to give a 10 out of 10 rating to this one review speak up on some of the other reviews as well, I'm rendering their vote null and void.

Sorry, but it's just not fair to everyone else.

Aargh. The "I am Leon Belmont" gimmick turned me off completely.

So the game has a long history, experienced designers, nice graphics, and good music. So, why exactly would I want to play this?

Also the fact that somehow they knew it was a "she" who wrote the review is curious ...

I'll give it a 7. It's very descriptive, which is a positive. The problem is, using the 1st person main-character's perspective, while unique, is very limiting. I also have a problem with descriptive words that mean nothing, like the word "good". What does good mean? That word is meaningless to me. It's so generic.

* This game doesn't lend itself to the conceit of a "first-person" review, nor is the writer skilled enough to deliver the energy and humor required for such a creative approach. Don't try for half-court shots until you can make your lay-ups.

* Very few gameplay details, especially in comparison to other recently released Castlevanias.

3/10.

zm is a game reviewer/writer/game expert by trade. An actual professional, as opposed to all us kindly amateurs :) I'd say that he's giving his professional opinion as a game critic and all around expert. It looks harsh compared with everyone else's reviews, but honestly, he's made nothing but good solid points along with every review.

I'm admittedly a picky bastard, but I've tried to back up every one of my scores with useful criticism. And, hey, if you think I'M being harsh, you should see the feedback I get from my editors. Heh.

I was initially confused by the original technique used by the author here - writing from the point of view of the main character in the game. Once I got it, though, things began to flow better.

This review was good in many ways - screenshots, style, grammar, organization, background, and held my interest while reading.

It lacked ample description of the actual gameplay, however. I guess I wander around (btw, that's WANDER, not Wonder, a minor nitpick) and fight enemies I encounter in my travels.

I give this review a 6.5.

Apparently there's no way to edit in this forum.

MODs -- I had trouble posting the first reply. THEN, thinking it hadn't gone through, I reconsidered the score and decided I wanted to boost it a little for the first-person gimmick. I then re-posted, with the higher score. Do what you think is best with the posts.

The review needs more information throughout. The style is unique, but it comes off choppy in places. The stuff that is there isn't neccearily bad, but it needs some work.

Umm…writing in the character of the game is an interesting idea, but it doesn't make for a good review. For some reason the tone of this reminded me of an old Onion article "Satisfaction Guaranteed" by Smooth B, but I doubt that's the feeling the writer was going for. Whoever wrote this seemed to have difficulty staying in character, which was a bit confusing.

Content wise, this is pretty average. I have to take a point for use of "In closing" to tell me we've reached the end of the review.

Hmm, another spin on game reviews. While it is very interesting (and amusing) in places, I just feel that the original format would work best. The reading was easy at times, and the aspects were covered. The format though had me confused at times, however.

I'll give this one an 8/10.

You get big points for creativity, no one else tried writing a review with this perspective, and I liked it. The review itself covers most of the bases and even throws a few background details in. Well written and entertaining.
