9.

I liked this review enough to compell be to look for the game. The author showed that he enjoyed it, added some pictures, and described why he thought it was a good game.

I know you may think a 9 is a little high, but i believe that if a review makes you want to buy the game, then it has done its job.

9 here as well. Great review, almost flawless except for a tiny bit of syntax. Makes me actually want the game too :D Very well done, covers pretty much everything!

Poor grammar and just generally clumsy writing killed this one for me. The use of "etc" in any piece of writing longer than a Post-It note should be outlawed. A little on the gushy side too.

On the plus side, it was informative and got me interested in the game.

7/10.

I thought the review had a lot of good information and was obviously written by someone who has played the game, but some of the basics of writing reviews just weren't there. For example, search the review for "grid runner" -- the game is never mentioned by name in the review. You can't just refer to a game by pronoins and assume people know what you're talking about. Likewise, there's no real mention of what genre this game is -- or if it defies classification. People tend to skim reviews, so it helps to lay the facts out in plain sight.

Only one sentence referred to the graphics, and two to the music. The end comments seem short, tacked on, and out of place. The review really ends in the next to the last paragraph -- the details at the bottom should have been worked into the text.

Another very good review. Something doesn't sound quite right, though; surely there is more to the game than playing tag with your opponent and picking up flags?

Keep in mind that I'm guilty of every crime I'm about to mention:

* Horrible opening sentence, with the first of the review's many examples of poor and awkward grammar ("Being the usually curious gamer" -- oof).

* As mentioned above, a cheerleader-y tone throughout.

* Also as mentioned above, the repeated use of "etc." when more detail is called for.

* The gameplay-description paragraph is too dense and confusing.

* Horrible closing paragraph.

4/10.

A little general on the graphics and sound critique. There are "a few" too many "paranthetical" references. I'm sure Dr. Evil would agree with me and give this review a 7/10

Overall a good effort.

Strenghts:
- good description of the game (covers equally 1-player and 2-player mode)
- good description of personal experience with the game
- mentions other consoles on which the game appeared, and gives even tips for buying the game

Weaknesses:
- too descriptive!! We know what the game is about, but HOW does it play?
- if the game is addictive fun, WHY is that? (go deeper into gameplay)
- since there is no perfect game, what are the (minor?) deficits of gameplay?
- how would you categorize the game, or isn't it categorizable? (if it's unique, mention it and explain why)

OVERALL: 5/10

Everything is described here, but nothing really goes into detail excep for the levels themselves. The graphics, sound, gameplay, etc needs more information. A good starting point, but needs more.

Another fine review. The information is easy to read, detailed, and plentiful. It would've been nice to have the scores in their own lines rather than having it one paragraph. Also, some more info could be added in a few places. Good review at any rate.

8.5/10

Not bad, could have been longer and included more info. At least I know why the reviewer liked the game.

Score: 8

I'll give this one a 6/10.

It's informative, energetic, and does a very good job at articulating the sheer joy of the gamer. That's what I want to see in a positive review. I also learn that this game is more or less an instant classic: the type of game that gets two friends battling until the sun rises.

The thing is, if it's an instant classic, I'd like to understand a little more about how the game plays. I get that it's a capture the flag game but then what? Some more description about how a round plays out and how the game's many levels vary that gameplay would have helped me visualize the writer's fondness for the game.

It's enough to get me to pick it up next time I stumble across one, however. And that's a good thing.
