Lost a couple of points for minor grammar errors, and I didn't like the end where it said, "As I understand it...". YOU are the reporter, do the research and let us know for sure! Other than that, I thought it was really good, one of the better ones I've read so far today.

The references lose me and I really get no feel for what the game is LIKE! 2/10. I'm being generous here.

I really get no feel for what the game is LIKE!

I can sympathize. The reviewer seems to be gambling his readers will be familiar with Escape from the Mindmaster and draw their own parallels between the two games. A screenshot or two would have made a huge difference! And I see that another reviewer forgot to include numerical ratings for sounds and graphics...

* Another review that leads with a quote from an unidentified source (the manual? The game itself?).

* Shaky grammar in the first paragraph, but it settles down later on.

* The review asks the dreaded rhetorical question "Sound like fun? It is!" Sound like a cliche? It is. I want you, the reviewer, to give me a specific example of why the game is fun.

* I'm glad the review compares Skeleton to other first-person 2600 titles -- a method I often use in print-magazine reviews, where I'm lucky to receive 300 words -- since the review itself doesn't mention that Skeleton uses a first-person viewpoint. Perhaps the reviewer intended to include screenshots?

* This is the first contest entry I've read so far that's too short. Another paragraph or two of gameplay description would've been welcome.

The review didn't really give a lot of information - it was very brief, and felt shallow.

On the other hand, it's possible it really did give all the information necessary (I haven't seen the game), and it seemed to provide all of the relevant or necessary points. It adequately described the story, the gameplay, the sound and graphics (presentation), etc...

This entry is far too short, and I'm not forgiving the omission of screenshots and the ever important numerical ratings.

I'm also not convinced that "It is" fun.

(Remember “Escape form the Mind Master”?)

No, sorry, I'm just a stupid fan of Japanese games. Give me a reason this game is fun. Besides "It is."

This review gives some very good information such as the presence of stereo sound but fails to present without some salesman quote (in this case, "Yep, you heard me right." This way to the Egress!)

The 3D maze effect isn’t as nice as those found in Escape from the Mind Master, but the 3D effect is certainly better than Crypts of Chaos and are on par with another 2600 game called Tunnel Runner.

During the lead-up to this contest somebody mentioned that name dropping is a bad thing. Again, I know nothing about any of these titles, and when I see the names "Tunnel Runner" and the titled-for-obscurity "Crypts of Chaos" given as references I start to wonder about the sanity of the reviewer. On the one hand it's very much desireable to compare the game to what's already been seen on the system, but it's truly immoral to throw us a review that's as bare of game details as the trees outside are bereft of leaves. Throw us a bone with some meat on it.

Mentioning the 3D scaling effect of the skeleton was nice. Give us more stuff like that.

Tonight will be the last batch of "cuts".

If your review isn't locked at midnight tonight, you're entitled to the Digital Press subscription, and your review will be moved onto the main contest site.

Unfortunately, not every review will make it.

This one is getting cut. Low review scores from our judges and forum. Sorry! Thanks for playing though... there are lots more contests coming up :)
