I think this review is excellent. I'll give it a 10. It is very well written, thorough, organized, and the writer is obviously very knowledgabe about the game AND the circumstances surrounding it. Great work!

Wow. There's really no problems here. It's good, it covers everything, well-written, covers the whole gamut! I give it the elusive 10!

Really nice, but too long in my opinion. I spotted at least one spelling error too. 8/10.

A terrific review.

It flowed really well, a pleasure to read.

Deducted 1 point because it would appear the review is incomplete, lacking a score for the Overall category.

Otherwise a great review.

9.

I thought it was complete and comprehensive.

Scoots, if you are taking off a point for every typo, you're going to be handing out some -5,000 scores here very shortly. :)

ALMOST a 10. Could have used more about the gameplay during the combat phases (is the ship restricted to the bottom of the screen or can it move freely like in Asteroids?), but that alone isn't enough to cost it a point. I just couldn't give it the perfect score when the Overall score is missing. That "?" just looks bad. Still, the closest thing to a perfect review I've read yet!

Not every typo, no, but certainly the exisitence of even one spelling error demands at least a one point deduction. This contest is about quality; if a writer can't take the time to double- and triple-check his work before submitting it then I don't feel they should get the top score. In effect they're saying my time (as the reader) is unimportant enough that they don't need to proofread.

Hey! -1 point for Scoots for having a spelling mistake in his last posting!

"Exisitence"??? :hmm:

Really nice, but too long in my opinion. I spotted at least one spelling error too. 8/10.

If the spelling error you spotted was "re-title" instead of "re-titled", that's my fault. I did the default spell check for all of the entries, I'm not sure how this one got changed to be INCORRECT but the error was on my part, not the reviewer's.

That said, you can modify your score if this actually deducted a point from it.

Well, there was still this:

" If you rescue all the Federation cadets on a same Zylon planet, it explodes and gives you an extra life."

But that aside, I still don't think it was a perfect 10. C'mon guys, a 9 is DAMN good!

I give it a 9 as well. Good flowing review touching on history and decent coverage on the game itself. The writer included screenshots as well, a must for something that is visually played.

Like O2william said, the review lacked an impression on game play and control other than it requires strategy and quick reflexes.

There is a lot of good information about the game. I think a few things could have been worded better and/or moved around.

Fine review here. Plenty of detailed information and some screen grabs. Despite a few minor things, the review comes across as an informative piece with a lot to offer in terms of discussing the game and what makes it enjoyable.

Good detail about the game, but we're missing why this game is good. This person could use an editor as there's a bit of tightening up that can be done here.

Score: 8

I'll give this little gem a 9/10.

It's so close to perfect! Look at all we're getting here: a little history on the game, detailed descriptions of all facets of the game, comparisons with others of its ilk, and even a link to a site where we can learn more (as if there wasn't enough info)! Well-written, flows perfectly.

You're going to see this a lot in my critiques: I look for an "energy" in the writing that draws the reader in and gets them interested. I want to be excited by the game when I'm reading. The best way to do that is to share your enthusiasm. This review gets really close, uses words like "gorgeous"... but I'm not feeling the love from the reviewer. It's more like "respect", that I see.

A fabulous job overall.
