Good info, good effort, and the fact that the writer has obviously played the game and done his homework comes through in the review. As seems to be a common trend, I dropped a few points for grammar.
Sometimes it's tough to do, but some advice I would offer (not that I'm really in the position to offer any) is write your review, wait a day, then come back and read it again. I think someone who has never been to DP before would ask, "who is Tim Snider?" Was he a programmer, just a fan, or what? What else has he done? When you say, "he had a unique career" ... doing what?

The Beserk references aren't a good thing. I for one was hoping for a little more comparison to the other versions of Venture (i.e., number of different halls, behavior and variety of monsters). As it is, although the graphics and challenge are said to be better than the original, little is said about just how they are better. For that matter, what about the music and sound?
4/10

I've never played Venture, I don't get the references. I also don't get why a reviewer is posing questions at the end rather than answering them. It covers gameplay a bit, but I really get no feel for the game at all. It's a review for those who know what the game is about already. 3/10

I didn't get much of a feel for the game from this review. I did get the feeling that this reviewer spent more time searching eBay for information than playing the game.
The interesting stuff (changes in scoring style, mazes, etc.) should have gone first. The eBay stuff is interesting, but it is secondary to the actual game, in my opinion.
It is fairly well written, nice effort, just wish I would have learned more about the game.

* The opening paragraph is all over the place.
* And I care about the eBay value of Tim Snider's 2600 hacks because...?
* The gameplay description is decent, though it needs more opinion. (Since the reviewer met Snider in person, and might even consider Snider an acquaintance, he probably felt uncomfortable about criticizing Snider's work.)
* Shaky (but salvageable) grammar throughout.
3/10.

Tonight will be the last batch of "cuts".
If your review isn't locked at midnight tonight, you're entitled to the Digital Press subscription, and your review will be moved onto the main contest site.
Unfortunately, not every review will make it.
This one is getting cut. Low review scores from our judges and forum. Sorry! Thanks for playing though... there are lots more contests coming up :)
