Happy disclaimer: I do not know where these pictures were found, and have found only one mention of the PSP's redesign via Google so far.
Thanks to [TW]Timmy for finding these (think they're on his webspace too).

(The following looks like the PSP, but This Page (http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=5415) shows otherwise

Think it looks pretty cool where the old guy's holding it out like it's his FBI badge. Don't even want to guess what the acronym would be.

That's something alright. Folding the screen down face-out like that is going to get so many people's panties in a bunch though. ;)

Mmm. That looks like the type of hardware that will develop a bad connection to the screen very easily, like a laptop. I sure hope that purty screen is extremely scratch resistant, too.

It's probably reversible like my Sony digital camera screen. They have a twist thing on it so it can face either way.

Yes, I would assume its switchable. To have a clamshell design and then make the screen face outwards would be lunacy, but I guess making consoles that get DRE's all the time would be also.

Now this is quite a different reaction from that on my other forum. Out of all the replies, over 90% were some form of "ripoff!" comment...

It's an interesting design, and regardless of anything else that Sony does, I do have some faith in their ability to design consumer electronics.
It looks interesting, kinda reminds me of a PDA.

The photo of the fellow holding the device up actually depicts a particular model of Clie. I've seen that photo before when Sony first announced it. Obviously, there would be almost no reason to build the PSP such that the screen can be swiveled over the controls. As for the drawings, it looks like a PSXSP. ;-)

I don't think the Clie had those huge hinges for the screen to swivel.
And the port on the side of the pic exactly matches the port in the drawing.
Then again you could be right. The Clie has exactly the same design. The hinges do look a little different , but it could be a matter of prespective.

Oh, god, I see it without even clicking. A post edit (if I can do it) is in order.
Thanks David!

I have no clue. I feel even better now that I haven't been able to find more than one mention of the PSP this month. I know they're legit, but I'd like to be able to bring some articles that are newer than June of this year to the table.

I just messed around with that Clie yesterday. It's got an absolutely beautiful screen. If the PsP's screen is anything like the Clie's, We are going to be in gamer heaven.

Here's what I found a couple of weeks ago:
http://www.digitalbackspin.com/adm/articlefiles/467-PSP.jpg
from this site http://www.digitalbackspin.com/adm/templates/news-tmp.asp?articleid=467&zoneid=14
The picture looks fake since the control pad and buttons are completely flat.

I prefer the new clamshell design to the old glossy ones.
I like the large screen and I only have one pressing point if that is the basic design. Keep it thin.
I know they want to use some proprietary disc, but I really thing they should stick to a non-moving media. They already have all the technology for Memory Stick, so why not use that?
If this thing has the right OS, it could easily kill the NGage (as if its not dead), GP32 (dead too, actually), and the upcoming Zodiac.

I saw some high res versions of that pic; the image of the fish looked like a JPEG pasted on in Photoshop.
