I just got a flyer in the mail today for a store called GameRush.
I looked it up at gamerush.com (where the flyer directed me to) and it routed me to blockbuster.com so I am assuming that it is a direct competitor to Hollywood Video's GameCrazy.
None of the Blockbuster's around here have such a store, so I figure that it is just starting up.
Do any of you have this? Is it a distinct "store" built onto the parent store like GameCrazy? Is it a stand alone store?

So far, they're done similarly to the Game Crazy stores; separate entrance and staff but connected to a Blockbuster.

there's one near me that's right IN the Blockbuster. same entrance, same staff. I believe it's only been there a couple weeks. at the moment the selection appears to all be former rentals (which makes sense as they've not been open long enough to get many trades). PS2, GameCube, XBOX and a few PS1 games. I did find a copy of Spot Goes to Hollywood so some trade-ins are starting to hit the shelves. I didn't see anything for Gameboy, N64 which is a bit surprising as they've recently rented for those systems. Nothing older either. I'll be watching to see what turns up.

okay, I got the flyer that sisko mentioned too.
here are the Game Rush trading terms:
Must be a Blockbuster member and have signed a trading agreement to trade in your games. Trade in subject to game trading terms and conditions and trading agreement available at a participating Blockbuster store. Trade in price subject to condition of game and at the sole discretion of Blockbuster. Trade in prices may change at any tme at the discretion of Blockbuster. PC games are not eligible for trade. All trades are final and cannot be reversed. Store credit will be givien for trades; no cash will be given. Trade credit will be applied to any outstanding balance on the Blockbuster members account at the participating store where the trade is conducted. Games must be PS2, Xbox or GameCube format and must each have trade in value of $10 or more as determined by Blockbuster in its sole discretion.
so, only PS2, Xbox and GameCube and make sure you've payed up on all those late fees before trading in some games. you don't need to be a member to just buy games though.

Game Crazy + Game Rush = Game Special Education
This whole thing is retarted. It's bad enough not having computers linked, but not to even have a set price for trade ins? That's kicking your own ass.
"Rez for PS2 huh? It didn't rent well here, we'll give you $2"

LOL They wouldn't even give that because it doesn't fall within their $10 minimum rule.
They need to stick to their movies and leave the games alone. As a former employee, I can tell you that BBV cares absolutely nothing about video games. Most (not all!!!) of their employees don't either.

I went into a BB a few days ago to get my Outlaw Golf disc...as I was perusingf their games for sale, I saw HSX for the PS2...a $15 game when it was released new. They were selling it used for $40.
I'm all for them selling games...just make sure you do a tad bit of market research first :)

That must have been a mistake, because my store sells it for 9.99 used. I swear, it's such a shame how much the people at blockbuster don't know shit about games.
And Oobgarm, at least you won't get less than $10 for any game you trade in! ;)

actually, game rush stores take nes, genesis, dc, psx, ps2, snes, n64, gboy, ,gcube, xbox, and ps2 games. no sega cd yet... also the trade in value for games can be awful, at times though games that retail for 10 or 15 dollars have a 30 dollar trade in value. why? another thing, employees are often lazy about repricing games. this is annoying, because the prices drop by more than 50% at times. i work at for a game rush blockbuster and know that is is very hard to keep every game priced correctly. this is because blockbuster's buyers are inexperinced game sellers. they often over pay for certain titles, or have some titles fly under their radar. i am still pissed my store didn't get a copy of the new gcube harvest moon game in for sale  it's frustrating, because i know game rush stores offer some great deals (especially for retogamers) but a lot of times the best stuff a store has is sitting behind the counter or in a back room somewhere.

There are two Game Rush stores within driving distance of my house.
One of them has PGA Tour '96 for $7. What does that tell you about their pricing? :hmm:
Although, to be fair, ever since my Software Etc. went out of business, they're the only place within an hours drive that I can get used games older than PS1.

as i posted in another thread yesterday, my gamerush's rock. it is one of the few places that carry dc games around here anymore.
of the 3 or 4 blockbuster's i've checked out here (charlotte, nc) all the gamerush's are in a section within the blockbuster...and they have a staff semi-dedicated to the gamerush section (seperate cash register and they have gamerush t-shirts). i don't know anything about trade-ins...and who cares because i never trade in anyways (just ebay it if you want to rid of it). One of the gamerush's had a sale buy 2 get one free so i picked up powerstone, crazy taxi 2 (both complete) and earthworm jim for genesis all for $14...their prices are alot fairer than both gamestop and eb games here in charlotte.
a month or two back, the same gamerush had the buy2get one free deal and i got f-zero gx, metriod prime, and resident evil (all for gc) all for $30. i didn't like resident evil so i brought it back...and they actually let me exchange it...so i picked up yoshi's island. i was also missing a manual another time for star wars (gamecube), and they guy gave me one for free.
they also sell old systems.
oh yeah i forgot to add that they have a bunch of genesis, snes games and some even have manuals...i swear my gamestop's burn all their manuals...how can you have 80 snes games traded in and not one person bring in a manual?
