Does anyone here use IGN to list your collection? I've been doing it for a while now, and I have one major problem with it. They don't have all of my games in their database! Some of my friends have the same problem.

At the bottom of the collection screen is an e-mail link, saying that if you have a game they don't have listed, you can e-mail them information on it (title, release date, publisher, etc.) and they will add it to the database. Only problem is, no matter how many times my friends and I try to do this, they never add any of our games!

I've finally gotten a bit tired of this, and decided to write IGN about it. It took a little bit of digging to find a general e-mail address for them, but I did. I'll link it below. If anyone else here uses IGN to keep track of their collection and has this same problem (or even if you don't and you just wanna help out!), please send them a complaint! Maybe if enough of us do, they'll start updating their game database and we can have accurate collections listed there. Thank you!

I tried it, but I don't like how there was no listing for condition and that you have to go by what THEY think a game is worth, which is often FAR lower than it is. For what they HAD in their system at the time I put my stuff in, it came out at about $14,000, when it was really worth closer to $21,000 at the time.

Yeah, I don't pay a bit of attention to their value crap. I just like to see totals and percentages for each system.

I don't think there is anything else to use online. That's why I want people to write IGN and encourage them to update their damn database. I mean, they have a thing right there on their site saying "write us if there's a game we don't have listed and we'll put it in the database", but then they never do!

They have for me, a few Game Gear games and Tenchi Muyo! Toko Muyo for Playstation. It took forever tho...

I know of another website but I can't remember the URL :( lemme look around.

"This site is under construction and coming soon"

Edit: Hehe, guess I should've waited a few minutes before checking the thread again.

That's why I stick with Game Collector. It searches 5 different databases, so you're sure to find your game, and most likely images of the covers, game descriptions, developer, publisher, genre, etc.

It kick some major booty.

That's what I use :) But I haven't been able to make a webpage out of it yet :(

Okay, now that sounds like a great alternative to IGN! Where do I find this place?

And, do they have import titles listed in their database? I don't have very many yet, but the biggest reason I bought my Saturn is for imports.

Video Game Tracker will let you type in anything you'd like. You enter it manually

Game Collector searches databases, but if it can't find it, you can always enter it in manually.

You can DL a trial of Game Collector at www.collectorz.com

Meh. I checked both of those out, and neither looks that appealing to me. Video Game Tracker doesn't have as good a system selection as IGN, and Game Collector is software I'd have to buy. Plus, I want something on the Internet that my friends and I can show off to each other.

If only IGN would actually update their game database the way they say they do, all would be good. That's why I wanted people to start badgering them about it.

I code my own. It's all hosted on my computer. I like freedom.

there is also gamezone.de, they are also missing a lot of games still, BUT if you submit a new entry, it usually is added after 1-2 day(s)

IGN sure is missing a lot of games from the list. Granted its really hard to have every llist, but you think they'd have an intern to enter shit sent in by us fans.

I started to just make my own excell sheet database, that way I can have all my peripherals and magazines etc on there too.

I, too, just use Excel to keep separate lists for all my systems. I also update my website's game list whenever I make a new purchase.

I'm glad I read this thread. I had considered putting my collection on IGN, but after reading alot of your posts, I realize that I may not be happy with their format. I think I did well to create my own lists. I've done that for years - even before I had the internet! @_@

I have around 930 games and only 5-7 games where not listed on IGN. Remember that only 999 games will show at once so you have to search for the missing one. I did send a couple email about the missing games but no luck on them adding them to there database. One of the games that is missing is MLBPA for the Genesis.

I'm at 1250+, and there's only a handful that aren't in the list. I think maybe a total of 20 of my games aren't listed, mainly since they're recent PSX releases or obscure titles.

The only real drawback to IGN's user pages is the lack of imports. They list most of them as "CANCELLED" since they didn't come out in the US. They also change the Japanese game's name when it's domestically released.

I had imported Shoutoko Battle 01 in my PS2 collection, but when it was decided that it would be released stateside as Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, the name in my list reflected that decision. Now Shoutoko is not on my list, but is still in my collection. And Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 isn't out until later this week. :hmm:

I have noticed a huge revamping process, adding "released in Europe" or "released in Japan" search options, so perhaps something is planned.

If they can get everything straight and include imports (a daunting task to say the least), it could be great.

Perhaps we should send them a DP guide? :D LOL

They do, that's the whole point of my thread. They just never add anything you submit to them. That's why I dug up that e-mail form in my original post, so people could write them and complain that nothing ever gets added. Please do it! :)
