Still waiting to find out who I have to send for... -_-

That good hydr0x? :P

Got my list, no surprise that I don't have anything spare that they listed so it's random acquisition time of a few things they should like ;)

I'd like to ask everyone to keep who they have a secret, until we start an offical thread about this, probably on Christmas eve or day.

Well that won't work with me since the person I got knows who I am. :o

Anyway...does it matter when we ship or just do it by the 16th? I got lucky and actually have a bunch of stuff the person wanted so mine will probably go out sooner than later.

That doesn't matter.. Once they get your package, they'll know who you are. What I MEANT is please don't post about it on the board until such a time as it is deemed appropriate ;)

Just ship by the 16th is what I'm asking for, the actual date doesn't matter, as long as your putting "secret santa" on the package somewhere in case the person wants to wait until Christmas to open it :)

Okay, got my list....and why am I not surprised I don't have any of this stuff? :P

Oh well, time to start hitting up Amazon and EBay to see what I can find for cheap. :D

I know who my person could be... I don't want to give away details, but let's just sy that I think I Might need reassigned (I know why I don't have his/her list yet; it was explained in a PM... I never see any of the 3 that it could be online here...)

My want list is IN.

Finally.

You can all breathe a collective sigh of relief that I am finally done holding up the event, while I bow my head in shame and apologize. :embarrassed:

Seriously, no sarcasm intended at all, my final projects snuck up on me and I forgot to make up my list, but I e-mailed it to PoG just moments ago, so, if I was the last one, you guys can get on with the show.

Sorry again to everyone for any inconvenience I may have caused.

P.S. You needn't worry about my gift going out late. By the time I'm ready to ship, college will have closed down for winter break and I'll be maxin' and relaxin'. :D

Hmmm....my secret santa was somewhat vague, but I shall do my best.I got my list... it has... let's just say that there is 1/5 the amount of items that were supposed to be listed @_@

I believe that if the person didn't give you a good enough list, or if the list is just too specific (or even too vague), you should tackle it in the following manner.

1. ask the Santa coordinator if they can request more stuff from your person to add to the list.

2. try using the "spirit of the list". If a person has listed a scattershot of Sega or Nintendo products that you don't have (or won't be able to find), consider other Sega or Nintendo items that they might not have, or would at least appreciate.

3. send them something very cool, even if it isn't on their list. Look up their posts on this forum! You'll get an idea for where their interests lie.

4. send them something from the DP products line! Hey, if this sounds like a BAD idea, let me just tell you that *I* would be very happy with anything from the page! http://www.cafeshops.com/digitalpress

I hope this helps!

I got a question about shipping. I got my package all packed up and ready to go. I checked how much shipping is and it's 5.60 for air, or 11.20 with tracking number. Do I have to ship with tracking information?

PS: Canada Post sucks

EDIT: Nevermind. I sent my package today. It costs 16 plus tax to ship with tracking. @_@

This is exactly how I feel, I'd prefer getting something more out of suggestion from someone else than exactly what I listed as examples in the wanted list I made. It's the perfect opportunity to broaden your experiences with stuff you wouldn't try or know about otherwise.

To that end I'm pooling together a pile of half and half, things I think they'd like and what I can find of what they want. At least guarantees they'll be happy with something. :D

That's what I'm talking about! I actually said in my list that I would have preferred to just send my collection, and have them pick something I didn't have that they thought I'd like. However, because I know some people feel more comfortable with a want list, I included a large list of suggestions as well.

I tried to get some of the things that were on the person's list that I got. But when I could not find any of the items. I chose some that I thought they would like... and I hope they do like them. :D I done the same as you, I gave them a list of every NES game I need, and a lot of other games for systems I needed (I did give them a top 10 list though. I think my 400+ item list was reasonable. :D Luckily I had it on my website already.

Rather than list specific games or items, I named a few el-cheapos I had been looking for, but I also listed every videogame system I own. That way, if my SS gets stuck, ANY game for ANY of my systems would be nice. (And I won't risk getting a game for a system I don't have.)

Also, just in case videogames and the like were tough to come by fro Santa-Baby, I also listed other hobbys/interests of mine. Cartoons, books, movie genres, etc. There's nothing really worse than getting a tough-to-shop-for recipient with a horribly narrow hard-to-find list of 4 or less items. @_@

These 2 tips hit the nail. My santa listed a variety of items, all of which either I didn't have, didn't collect for, or couldn't get locally. I manged to check out their website and see what other systems they collect for, and then looked to see what I have to offer that they didn't have. This way hopefully they won't be too disappointed that they didn't get something from their list, as long as its still something they need. They way I look at it, as long as any of us try our best (and send something), what more can the receipient ask for?

Well, I'm hoping my SS does'nt have any problems. I'm not really into the older games and listed games I wanted for modern systems -- PS1, PS2, GC, GBA, and PC. But I also threw in a few game guide books as a backup. Hopefully it's not that hard to get at least one of the items. :)

The person who I bought for saved me by listing some modern stuff they were interested in besides their NES wishes for complete games. LOL

I'm going to send my Secret Santa package today... I just wish it'd be a bit later so I could head to the store and deal with this (it's only 7 am...)

I bought one item from a friend of mine who owns an independent videogame store, and I put one of the items from my collection into the package. That second item wasn't from the list, but I'm sure the recipient of this package will appreciate it alright. :D

@Mr.E_Man: Did you buy your packaging supplies (ie. box) from Canada Post, or did you go to, say, Staples? I'm wondering, since I'm still new to this shipping stuff (yup, the only thing I've shipped before that wasn't a letter, was my mixtapes to some DP members here. And that didn't go that well, with one CD breaking along the way). Then again, I have to go to Staples today to pick up a bag of box fillers (I'm sending a Sidewinder joystick within the next couple of days and I need it to get there in one piece).

I actually still have a garbage bag full of packing peanuts and bubble wrap that I got from work a couple months ago, so I have all the packing supplies I need. As for boxes, I can usually get these from various stores in town. ie Grocery Stores. I am pretty sure that staples is the best place to buy your bubble wrap/packing peanuts though. I've never bought a box from there, so I don't know how the prices are.

If you have any mailing supply stores in your area, I might check that out as well.... since it is their specialty, they might have better prices.

Ok finally done wrapping up my package and it goes out tomorrow. I hope they like it. Got a few items from the list and then more to boot so I'm hopeful. It was tempting to just dump an arcade game off to Forward Air and let the new owner pick it up but I didn't think that would be a good idea :)

Gah, I can't believe it. I put an SNES game on my list that I've been looking for forever, because I've NEVER seen it in the wild around here, and then today i come across it, and can't buy it because it's on my list. It just fucking figures.

why don't you just buy it and sell it if you get it from your SS??? it seems to be rare, so having an extra copy doesn't seem bad at all
