Packrat Video Games and Musevox Multimedia is pleased to announce the "GLOBETROTTER" World Tour!
http://www.musevox.com/for%20web/4kit.jpg
Globetrotter, or "Trotter" for short, made his first appearance at the AtariAge booth during PhillyClassic 4 ( Mar. 28-30, 2003 ). After some extra planning and preparation for his worldwide journey, Trotter is on the move again!
Trotter is a huge fan of classic gaming, especially Atari. He is, after all, a VCS cartridge... personifed!
He also loves to travel. Trotter wants to be the first Atari homebrew cart to visit every continent (where Atari fans live), and visit as many places as he can while he circles the globe. He needs your help!
Trotter started his journey again Nov. 15, 2003. He will stay with a few different friends here in the state of Utah before journeying overseas to the UK!
Weston of Musevox Multimedia will be arranging for Trotter to be sent to his brother in Worksop, England. From there, Trotter will need Atari fans living in the UK to help him continue on his tour. After the UK, the cart will continue into Europe.
In addition, our goal is for Trotter to make an appearance at PhillyClassic 5! So, we will direct Trotter back to the USA in time or soon before the show( possibly accompanying a PC5 attendee from Europe ). More details later.
After one year, give or take (depending on how many sign up), Trotter will return home to Utah. After this, the cart and materials collected will be auctioned on Ebay or another event, and the proceeds will go to a charitable cause, either classic gaming-related or other. The exact details of this will be determined at a later time.
We, the sponsors, will be doing our best to keep the time short and the costs inexpensive by organizing a list of those who sign up for hosting duties, and keeping the distance between shipper and receiver a short one. Except for a few overseas "jumps", Trotter should have a smooth and short trip from one Atari fan to another as he ventures around the world. Progress of his journey and where he's been will be reported at www.packratvg.com. Also, we will be posting photos that participants submit of the cart near or in an interesting place or landmark close to where that person lives.
http://www.musevox.com/for%20web/oremsign.jpg
If they choose to, the person can view "GLOBETROTTER" on their Atari 2600 VCS. The cart supports both PAL and NTSC TV formats.
Before they send Trotter to the next recipient, the person should sign their name in the "travelogue" that will accompany the cart. If needed at a future time, a second travelogue will be sent out if the first one fills up
with names. Also, a stamp or small sticker representing your city, state or country can be applied firmly on the inside or outside of Trotter's suitcase( so long as you put it in a place that doesn't hinder opening and closing. )
Weston and I will be in charge of collecting the names and info of those of you who are interested in hosting Trotter during his travels. He will use his best judgement as to the path (who's next on the list) that Trotter will take as he moves along. Also, he will try to accomadate you if you have a special circumstance while Trotter is in your area, as long as you give him plenty of notice. Once Trotter leaves your state or country though, it is unlikely he will be returning!
Weston will also be emailing or sending a PM ahead of time to the next recipient on the list to expect Trotter's arrival and verify your current address, etc. This will minimize scenarios like: The cart arriving to your address after you have moved to another residence or you've just left for vacation.
These and more details will be posted on the Globetrotter page at www.packratvg.com soon. Also, photos will be posted as we receive them, and we will do our best to keep the site updated on a timely basis. Stay tuned!
Comments and questions in this thread are welcome, and I'll post here of important updates. Also, I will post a numbered list of names soon. As they come in I will edit or post again in this thread.
If you want to be involved, feel free to PM me your name, city, country, etc. or email me at: trotter@packratvg.com
Our immediate need will be for participants living in Utah (anybody whom I haven't talked to yet) and the UK! These will be among the first people's names in the travelogue. Also, we need names from other European nations.
If you don't live in one of these places, you can still sign up, but it will be some time before Trotter comes to your town. I will post here when Trotter moves into a new area, so keep watching this thread!
This is your chance to promote our hobby and spread unity within the classic gaming community. Tell others about Globetrotter! Sign up today!

I wanted to clarify something here for everybody that signs up:
By signing up, You agree to let us, the sponsors( Packratvg and me ), use your name and/or userhandle, city name, photo(s) you submit, and your likeness( if you appear in the photo ) for any further promotions we do to get people aware of the Globetrotter project.
An example would be: We are planning for Trotter to appear at PhillyClassic 5, so we would like attendees to see photos, etc, of where Trotter has been so far.
We respect your privacy. Your mailing info would ONLY be given to the person that would be sending the cart and materials to you. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know:
Send me a PM or email at: trotter@packratvg.com
Also, Due to a unique set of circumstances lately, Trotter will postpone his voyage to the UK and Europe, in favor of a trip to Baton Rouge, Louisiana!
From there he will travel in a generally north and east pattern toward Philadelphia, and should arrive in that area in time for PhillyClassic 5!
He will head out to Baton Rouge soon, so, those of you who live somewhat close to this planned route( from eastern Texas east to Florida and north generally along the east coast, sign up if you haven't already!
If you are not living along this route, you can still sign up, as Trotter will still have many places to go after PhillyClassic. :)
Peace,
Weston 8-)

Trotter is on his way to PhillyClassic 5! 8-)
I finally found a few minutes to again, update the web page (http://www.packratvg.com/trotter.htm) with a few more listings.
Also included on the web page is a link (http://www.musevox.com/globetrotter2.htm) that includes a new page with the current list of hosts, for a quick reference. :)
Be sure to come by the Packrat Video Games tables at the show, to see Trotter, and the many new hacks, homebrews, and games available to purchase! Also, we will be running a few competitions for prizes throughout the weekend.
You could win one of these T-shirts, with awesome artwork done by our pal, Xot! There will be a limited number of these shirts for purchase as well: M, Lg, XL, and a few XXL.
See y' all at the show! Gotta get some sleep now. My plane heads for Philly in the early morning.

To see some pics of the shirts, Check out this link to the AtariAge forum thread for Globetrotter( on page 3 ). :)

Just a quick update. Globetrotter should be in China now, with gamer hepcat. I'm awaiting word from him that he and Trotter made it there safely. From there, Trotter will travel to Australia!
Trotter will make an appearance at NWCGE next weekend! Since Trotter is in China, one of his back -up buddies will stand in for him at the show. Also, We have a few T-shirts left from PhillyClassic 5 that will be available to buy at the show.
There are no plans to make any other Globetroter shirts( unless somebody comes up with something really unique. ) so get a T-shirt while we still have some in stock! M, Lg, XL and a few 2XL are the sizes. Any shirts left over will be up for sale at the Packrat Video Games website some time after the show. Also, after the show( I won't be there because my sister's wedding is that same weekend ), I hope to get a major update to the Trotter web pages since we have a world map to add, and several new hosts names since the last update. Now that I'm done with college for the summer, I can get this done soon. Thank you all for your patience! :)
Unfortunately, I didn't get any decent photos at PC5. Gamer Heavy-sixer has given me permission to use a photo that he took of Trotter at the show, and I'll include that pic. in the next update. If anybody else has some PC5 Trotter pics they'd be willing to donate for the web page, please LMK. Thanks!
If there's anybody here from China, Australia, or elsewhere on the Asian continent, and you want to sign up, but haven't done so yet, email me: trotter@packratvg.com
Another update soon, after NWCGE! Later,
Weston 8-)

I'm in the process of adding a bunch of updates to the map page as well as the name lists. :)
Hey Everybody! Globetrotter will make an appearance next week at the Midwest Gaming Classic, May 22, 23 in Millwaukee, WI!
Come say hello to him at the Packrat Video Games tables! :)
Again, this will be Trotter's stand - in, while Trotter is touring China.
Also, Check out this Interview about Globetrotter (http://www.intelligentagent.com/archive/Vol4_No1_demo_hilton.htm)conducted by Intelligent Agent Magazine!* 8-)
Editor - in - Chief Patrick Lichty and his staff have put together an excellent article. Be sure to browse through the other insightful features of this issue as well. Lots of cool stuff! (http://www.intelligentagent.com) :
*Just to clarify, the article meant to say that Jarett represents Packrat Video Games and I, Weston, represent Musevox Multimedia. :)

Major update!
As promised, Jarett and I have added to Trotter's webpage album( 2 dozen photos have been added or updated! )*
Also, the USA map had been updated. Maps of Europe and China are ready, but Jarett and I are still working on a clever way to display all the maps, in an interactive fashion. We will have more time to do this in the coming weeks.
*The new photo for #11a was misplaced, so I will rebuild it for the next update.
Click here (http://www.packratvg.com/index.htm) to see the latest. Also, you can see here (http://www.musevox.com/globetrotter2.htm) the list of host names has been added to, now including hosts in: Germany, Finland, and the Netherlands! ( as well as new entries to: Canada, the UK and the USA )
Globetrotter is headed for Australia next! Currently, we only have 2 names from there. I know there are others here from that part of the world. Now is the time to sign on, if you live in Australia!
Also: anybody from or who knows somebody who could participate from: New Zealand, Hawaii, The Phillipines, Singapore, or any of the other places in Southeast Asia or the Pacific isles, Trotter is moving in that direction!
Or even if you don't live there, but would like to participate, you can still sign up!
PM or mail to: trotter@packratvg.com :)

Is this supposed to be a joke?

The "Hilton" snafu appears to be fixed now. :)
Well, Trotter has been on his journey for 8 months now. Click here to see the latest webpage update. (http://www.packratvg.com/trotter.htm)
New pages for: the continental USA, Australia, China, and Europe have been added. Plus, some new photos, as well as new names to the host list( now including New Zealand )
If you have signed up as a host, but don't see your name on the list, please let me know. I may have missed one or two people.
Plans for attending CGE in San Jose are still a go. After that, Trotter will likely head westward, with opportunities again, to visit Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the Middle East and/or any other stops along the way back to the European continent, in his attempt to make it all the way around the globe.
If you live in one of these areas( or in San Jose, CA ) and would like to host when Trotter comes your way, PM me or email: trotter@packratvg.com
Also, we have a limited number of Globetrotter T-shirts ( M, Lg, XL, 2XL ) originally left over from PhilyClassic 5, that will be available to buy. More details to follow soon!

GLOBETROTTER is heading for Classic Gaming Expo 2004 in San Jose, CA! :D
Trotter is currently visiting New Zealand, and will be enroute to San Jose very soon! Hopefully, he will make it in time to make an appearance that weekend ( August 21st and 22nd ).
Trotter plans to get in lots of photos with many of the guest speaker and alumni of Atari's past. He is excited to explore video game history and discover his electronic roots! :)
For those of you going to CGE, Trotter will be wandering around with me, but will also be hanging out near the Packrat Video Games vendor booth, so stop by and say "Hi". :music:
I will be posting the best photos of Trotter's CGE experience soon after I get back home. They will be added to Trotter's webpage. After CGE, Trotter plans to move westward again, making stops in Australia, NZ, Japan, Hawaii, etc. on his way to the European continent.
No webpage update is planned before the show, but I wanted to include a list of the latest hosts. Happy Anniversary to Globetrotter!
Trotter has now been on his tour for One year and is going strong! He still has lots of hosts to stay with and lots of places of the world to visit!
Most recently, Trotter has visited Kapfenberg, Austria,
then he joined the party in The Hague, Netherlands for Eurocon 2004,
From there he made a stop in Amsterdam,
Now he is enroute to Elburg, Netherlands, and Kaiserslautern, Germany,
After that, he is currently arranging plans to visit Taiwan during the Christmas holiday, with a possible short stay in central Mexico before that! ( still working out the details ).
So, as you can see, Trotter has built up a lot of momentum, with many stops still ahead of him on his goal to visit as many places as he can, and circumnavigate the globe, at least one time( but likely he'll go farther than that ).
It isn't Trotter's nature to turn down an offer for adventure, so he is still accepting new hosts, especially if you reside somewhere Trotter hasn't visited yet, or isn't currently represented by another future host. The more the merrier, even if you do live in an area Trotter will go, the cart needs plenty of people to "bridge" between places that are far apart from each other( especially in countries where Atari or classic gaming in general, isn't well known ).
As mentioned before, I am working on some ideas for a commemorative collectible to mark Trotter's first anniversary of his tour. If all goes well, this will be offered in time for Christmas, and it will be an exclusive, only available to people who have already hosted, or have signed on to host. More details soon.
The next webpage update is coming, I promise. Hmm... The Thanksgiving break from work and school may be enough time for me to get this done. :hmm: :)
In the meantime, some new pictures you can check out in Trotter's sister thread( because I haven't yet figured out how to post photos here. :? )
One is Trotter hanging out in Austria with his friend KC Munckin.
The other is Trotter seeing the sights in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with san-d-2000

For anybody here wondering about the fate of Trotter, you can check the link to the AA thread I posted previously.
Yes, it was an April Fool's joke, if not a very well executed one.
Globetrotter will continue his journey. 8-)
