Recently I bought the three systems (32X, Sega CD, and a gen Ver. 2) this was all it came with no cords, nothing. So now I am trying to get it to work. Questions as follows

1) Do I need to run a cable from the 32x into the Gen ver. 2 and then from the 32x to the TV?

2) Do I need a plate of some kind for the bottom of the gen when it is hooked up to the sega cd? If so where can I find one of these?

3) when I turn on the gen with sega cd a red light on the sega cd goes of for a moment and then nothing happens, is this due to me not having the plate for the gen?

thats it for know and thanks for the help!

1. Yes if you want to play the 32x .

2. The metal plate isn't necessary.

3.No it's not due to the plate. Are you trying to use the Sega CD with the 32x plugged in ? I think you have to unplug it. Also clean the connectors between the Sega Cd and Genesis , and clean the Sega CD laser lens. They both get dirty and cause problems.

I think you have to unplug it.

Not necessary, works with it plugged in (remember the CD+32x games)

Also clean the connectors between the Sega Cd and Genesis

Dirty connectors = #1 enemy of disfunctional gen/cd/32x combos, for sure.

I cleaned the connectors and even tried anouther cleaner genesis ver. 2 and I still get the red light that goes out really fast on the sega CD when i turn the power on.

I am using a AC adapter with an output of 9v DC 1.2A from the genesis ver 1. Is this the right AC adapter?

That is axactly right for AC adapter. Usually a bad connection between the genny and the CD means no CD light at all. My guess is your laser is dead. This is a CD2 correct? The laser isn't too difficult to swap out, but you would need one from another broken CD2 (ideally with the "no red light" problem, or some other problem).

Yes this is a CD2, damn another laser...well does anyone know where I can find one or does anyone have one?
