Yep, here I go again - anyone have any Sonic protos they'd like to part with for a reasonable fee? I have betas for Sonic CD, but anything else is fair game (literally, har har.) Let me know :)

I think anyone with a cartridge-based Sonic prototype has been pounced on by the Sonic fans already. But...yeah. If anyone does happen to have any, post here. I'd love to know.

I know of a Sonic 1 release candidate (might be a hoax though) and a Sonic 3 proto that's the same as the original game (except with no saving enabled).

You'll find everything you need to know here. However my proto is on a different board than the one seen pictured on this website.

Have you played it at all? Is it different than the released ROMs?

I have played it. But I don't play emulated games so I have no idea how or if it differs from the ROM on the net.

Adam...that's intresting...I guess it has the same title screen and everything?

I assume its going to be the same one you see but I really don't know. Last time I played this was when I first got it. At least a year or two ago. I just found that website this past week. It look familiar but identical ? I dunno I'd have to pull out the sega for that. I wonder if it will work in my Nomad?

And I happen to be the owner of said cart =P

About that Crackers proto: I might be interested in it. Contact me with details.

Show me a screen of the cart, and then I may believe you.

Show me a screen of the cart, and then I may believe you.No offense, dude, but us Sonic fans have to be the most cynical bunch of people when it comes to proto carts.

Worst case scenario, it's a hoax. Best case scenario, we have a cart of Crackers which may or may not be different from our ROM. Hell, it may even be the source for our ROM, who knows?

Is it possible to copy Crackers on to a Megadrive cart?

PS. If anybody has a beta Meagdrive cart of Sonic 2 then PM me, Id REALLY like to by it. I would prefer it if it come with the Pirated games box aswell, Still if not that's ok because it's not like these things are easy to come by.

I have a Japnese proto of Sonic 1. I think it's on eprom and appears to be the same as the normal Japanese release (with the parallax scrolling clouds in Green Hill Zone). The US ans Euro versions dont have that.

TheRedEye

Hey, that's pretty cool, actually. I'll bet you could get a pretty nice amount for that, if you were selling.

Ugh, I've known the 'Sonic' community for too long, and it's so damn aggravating. They all think NO PROTOTYPE CAN EVER EXIST AND IT MUST BE A HOAX, so they come here, where new 2600/SMS/NES prototypes are found and confirmed daily, demanding proof, because a Sonic prototype CANNOT EXIST. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. DESPITE THAT MY POST COUNT IS 1 I WILL COME IN HERE AND CRITICIZE YOU AND CALL YOU A LIAR. HAHAHAHAHA. erhem. I'm really starting to like this place, so I would like to ask the Sonic Beta Seekers to be on their best behavior if they MUST come here. The Sonic 'Community' is a bunch of rude, immature individuals who love to piss others off. Let's not ruin this community too. Gracias. :)

yeah, these sonic people are retarded, but i can't blame them for thinking all protos are fake when one of their leaders sells fake protos him self and says they are real.

If you're interested in Sonic protos, SMS Power recently released a Sonic 1 proto for the gamegear. based on this proto, Sega developed Sonic for the SMS BEFORE the Gamegear version!

pachuka is one of their leaders, right? he has sold some fakes on ebay and insists that they are real when they are clearly not. he's also sold some real protos though. (most of which probably never saw their buyers).
