NES suggestion for the guide

I have a suggestion for the Game Genie. the guide list the gold genie and everyone knows its as common as dirt, but not too many people know there is a top loading NES version that's black, in my opinion they are two diffrent items, the gold one won't fit properly in a top loader, and the black version is deceptively hard to come across. In all of my collecting not including Ebay I have only seen one. What do you guys think? Am I right or wrong?

That's one of many things that have been noted by DP and will hopefully be in the next edition. The next edition will supposely have a lot more info on variations like that, akin to what the 2600 section has. Minor nitpicky stuff like this should be documented, for people like you and me ;)

are you talking about the game genie adapter thing for the NES top loader? I have two game genies for the front loading NES on being (as said) the commen gold and the other one being black. The black one that I own most definately does not fit into my top loader, but instead is just a different model from the common gold one, and plays fine in my front loading NES. When is the next edition supposed to be released? I still don't own the new one, but I don't want to buy it now if a new one is coming out soon.

Can you guys do me a favor? Check out your black Game Genies, and tell me which manufacturer is listed. Is it Galoob, or is it Camerica? If I'm not mistaken, the Canadian version is Camerica, and maybe THEY are exclusively black.

Not to add any confusion to the mix, but...the black Game Genie I have fits perfectly in both my front loader AND my top loader. (It's made by Galoob.)

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not but one of the versions of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is missing from NES section of the guide. The Tengen version is present, but the Mindscape version is mysteriously absent. I checked my earlier edtion of the guide (#5), and it's in that one, but it must have somehow been left out of the most recent edition.

Okay, so...

Standard front-loading Game Genie comes in both gold and black flavors, there is a black toploader adapter for these models, and there is a special Game Genie (NOT adapter) designed specifically for the toploader?

i'm pretty sure there is no game genie specifically designed for the top loader, just an adapter.

NESMAN85 is correct, there is no Game Genie produced for the top loader. Nintendo made the slot smaller on the top loader so the Game Genie could not fit, since it was not licensed by Nintendo they wanted nothing unlicensed to help players. Galoob then manufactured a black adaptor to help the Game Genie fit into the top loader but it was still a bitch to get the Genie into a top loader with the adaptor.

There are 2 versions of Genies, one if made by Camerica which is gold and one made by Galoob, which is black
