How ironic to put that into an auction for Caught In The Act?

That chick must have been a hellcat in the sack, I tell you what, for some guy to have gone through all of that.

Or it's a cheap ploy to attract attention, like the infamous Beanie Baby auction.

The beanie baby auction where the guy made up a story of selling the beanies that his wife left behind. He was going to sell them to buy beer and tools.

It's prolly a scam. Anyway, does he want me to bid more because of this story about screwing up his life?

That could have been true. I bought a treadmill off of ebay. Well, sort of. I bid on a treadmill on ebay but didn't meet the reserve, missed it by like $50. The guy then emailed me and said he'd sell it to me for my bid price because it was something his wife had bought, they were in the middle of a divorce, and he wanted it out of his house. Dude then said for an extra $50 he'd drive it up to my house for me... FROM MARYLAND TO MASSACHUSETTS. The next weekend he showed up at my house with the $1500 treadmill (that he'd taken $400 for) and his new gf. He helped me get it into my basement and the two of them went to Cape Cod for the weekend.

So, people do sell off the crap left behind by a spouse and do it cheaply.

That's what I thought of too.

Anyway, a $23K debt?

Why the hell would anyone spend $23K on a girl? Why would you work 2 jobs to support a girl? You must be pretty damn stupid to do so IMHO

No, he later admitted that he made up the story on his auction to attract attention.

I just don't seem to understand his logic. he says he's too embarrased to say that he's in debt but he does it anyway. To me that just makes it a ploy. I bet if anything it won't help sell them. I'm sure people think to themselves "Wow, this guy could use my help." I've seen people make more money by asking for donations to cut off their feet. It's just a sad fact of life.

$23k woudln't be that tough to do, if he's including things like an engagement ring, or a car, or something like that.
