I decided to dig out all of my old Fun Club News issues today to see what I had, and lo and behold: they are not Fun Club News issues at all. They are titled "Nintendo Power Flash." Does anybody out there know anything about these?

Here's some info: They range in size from 4 to 16 pages, counting covers. Copyright info states that "The Nintendo Power Flash is published by Mattel Canada Inc." I have six issues, all from 1989-1990.

My guess is that Canadians got the "Nintendo Power Flash" in place of the Nintendo Fun Club issues. Did any of you Canadians manage to get Fun Club issues, or was the whole nation stuck with the Power Flash? And have any of you Americans seen or heard of the Power Flash? A search on Google turned up basically nothing. From what I've seen of the Fun Club News on the 'net, the content in the Power Flash is completely different.

Any info on these would be appreciated.

You are essentially correct. I have one issue, with Cobra Triangle on the cover. I may be wrong, but I believe Mattel Distributed the NES for a short period in Canada, and was responsible for Nintendo's Canadian operations. Nintendo Flash was the result of that unholy union.
