Playing Phantasy Star I from the Phantasy Star Collection on my GBA. I'm having trouble getting the hovercraft. According to the FAQ I pulled off of Gamefaqs all you have to do (once you have Hapsby the robot) is search the pile of junk in the first house you see upon entering Bortevo on Palma. I have done this but the hovercraft remains unfound. I even tried getting some more polymeteral but it didn't help. Is there something I'm still missing or have I painted myself into some buggy corner? :frustrated:

Incidentally, this is a fantastic old RPG. The purist in me would prefer to play it on the SMS (better yet, GG with an SMS adapter), but I have yet to run across an original cart yet. But this GBA version does nicely. Phantasy Star Collection is going to serve as my "sanity tool" when I go to visit the in-laws for Thanksgiving. LOL

Yeah, it's a great collection. Too bad that THQ released it with a couple of annoying bugs.

You might want to check out www.phantasy-star.net it is a Phantasy Star fan site that has the answers to all of the games, even maps to all the mazes.

Already looked there, thanks. Says the same as Gamefaqs and one other site whose name presently escapes me: All you have to do is search the house.

Can I complete the game without the hovercraft, if it comes to that?

I played Phanasy Star 1 on the SMS. Believe me more than one I got totally lost on what to do next more than once. This is without a doubt the most frustriating RPG ever made. Just wait til you got to the Bayu Mayau the final level in that game even with a map I am totally lost.

You have to have the hovercraft. If I'm not mistaken, there's a trigger that will make the hovercraft there. I played the game a LOT in junior high... that was over 15 years ago though.

Someone (on Motavia, if I'm not mistaken) will tell you "I threw away the hovercraft in _____". THEN, you can search and find it. Having Hapsby alone will not work.

Enjoy.

That did it. I had already talked to that guy, actually, but never answered "yes" to his inquiry about the craft, only "no". Answering "yes" opened up the hovercraft back in Bortevo. The hunt for Lassic resumes.

Thanks for your help, all. Especially you, GaijinPunch. You are truly the wind beneath my hovercraft's wings LOL
