Apparently you can save your PS2 saved games to your computer and download saves from various sites. Anybody own one? Anybody know why they were discontinued?

I'm thinking of buying one from Ebay.

I used to do this with Dexdrive. It's a nice feature but I realized while doing this that I don't want other people's saves, and I don't want other people's cheats. So I packed my Dexdrive up and it's sitting in the collection somewhere.

Well, one reason I want it is that I can use a saved game where someone has already found all 100 hidden packages in Vice City. I'd rather not use the gamefaq and have to go collecting them all.

To me the point of these items are kind of dumb, like gamesharks. Whats the point of paying 50 dollars for a game so you cna beat it in a day or so, it makes no sense to me. I liked the dex drive to use for swapping rpg maker games but thats it. The only time I have ever bought acheat device was for animal crossing to unlock the nes games that were'nt unlockable any other way.

Strange responses. I have the N64, PS1, and PS2 devices and use them ALL THE TIME.

Why? Two main reasons:

1) To save memory card save. I dump old saves to the HD and then can re-use the cards, thus saving money also.

2) To play around with saves. I've uploaded some good ones to some sites and downloaded other ones to finish games I can't win on my own or to save time on games. Kingdom Hearts, for example. Got to the end, did'nt want to take hours to level up, downloaded a save, finished. No fuss. :D

I really like using them. And the cheats are okay also. If you're interested in either one of those above reasons, it's good to get as long as you can get it cheap. GameFAQ's is a great place for saves, including mine.

There is one reason that you NEED a Dex Drive: DDR. It makes it really easy to swap edits around the net, then load them into arcade machines and destroy everyone. Pretty much any other game with a good editor will benefit from this as well.

It's a very great product to use after you get all the new updates for it. :)

I use it all the time..It was given to me as a gift..

When you own a lot of PS2 games like I do and don't want to keep spending on memory cards.. this devise allows you to transfer games saves onto your hardrive on your computer..
I put all my older title PS2 game saves on the hardrive thus clearing up the memory cards I have..
I keep doing it clearing up 4 cards for new game saves..
(It paid for itself)..if I paid for it)
Then there were a few games I was surely stuck on..
I downloaded game saves and brought the games back to life.

It's a great devise..I like it..
