I was finally able to unlock Metroid on Metroid Prime the other day, but was let down by two things...
Whats up with all the slowdown, and why can't you see the lava floors? I mean, at least I know that it should be there, but what about people who never played the original on the NES. A friend of mine even asked me while playing it why he couldn't go down to the next platform; why when he hit the bottom of the screen he couldn't move and was losing health. And I gotta admit, with out the lava floor, it looks like the columnar rooms where you can go up and down.

Then it occured to me, if they're using the same emulator to run Zelda I and II on the promo disc, is it too plagued wth slowdown and have some misssing graphics?

Say it ain't so!

Sounds like a resolution problem, as if they're chopping off vertical resolution lines, specifically. That's bad. It wouldn't be as much of a problem with a 360-degree game like Zelda but this is on top of the slowdown you're reporting.

Not good. NOT good.

Actually, I played through the entire game on my GCN and had no problems whatsoever (And I knew where lava should have been). I wonder what's wrong?

I've seen no slowdown, missing tiles, or anything of that nature on my Metroid for GCN.

There might have been some slight error in your disc's burn or something...or a minute problem with your GCN proc...?

Metroid uses an entirely different NES emulator from the one used on Animal Crossing. Metroid uses an interlaced graphics mode (god knows why,) and has some slowdown/tearing issues, as well as occasional extra button presses. The NES emulator in Animal Crossing is absolutely flawless, right down to using the correct video mode. Hopefully that's the one they used for the Zelda games.

Hmmm... Interesting.
We have two people saying the that Metroid has slowdown and missing tiles (I'm assuming your agreeing with me davidbrit2?) and two people saying they played them perfectly okay...

Anybody else have anything to add here about their experiences?
Could it be that after they pressed so many they realized the flaws in it and then began pressing them with a better emulator?...

I honestly can't remember if any tiles were missing, but I do remember that the video seemed to either skip or slow down a bit once in a while. Of course, I had played it start to finish on a 9" television in the back of a van on the way to Cleveland, so maybe I missed a few things. ;-)

My NES cart version of Metroid has slow-down. The GC version does also.
