View Full Version : DOES ANYONE WATCH THE G4 VIDEOGAME CHANNEL?

I subscribe to digital cable just to watch G4. I don't even think it's that great but at least they show a lot of good to high quality gameplay footage. The opinions of their hosts and writers is horrible though. It's kinda like listening to Gamepro or Game Informer or EGM. So bascially it is like listening to bullshit. Atleast they show games. I wish they would show more stuff like imports and the entire japanese scene, but why would they do anything good? Anyway, I was wondering if a lot of other people watched and if they do, what do you think of it?

I used to watch it, but then I moved and it's not available in this location. In truth, I am glad that channel is gone. I used to sit on my ass and watch it for an unhealthy number of hours... I have since replaced that void with the Digital Press forums.

It seems to be very biased. Also, the programming is, well... lame. The series that G4 chooses to make aren't altogether smart, either. For example, "Cheat"--who wants to waste 30 minutes in order to get a small taste of a strategy guide when one can just go to Game FAQs (http://gamefaqs.com) and get the whole thing?

I really wish I could watch it but I'm too cheap to get digital cable.

I watch Icons, Players and Starcade. The rest of it is of no interest to me 'cus I don't care about new games.

I've never heard this claim before. Biased in what way?

I believe I can answer that. Most of the games featured are for the Xbox and PS2 (Or that's how it was ~6 months ago; I haven't watched many shows on there for a while).

Starcade rules! Can't get enough of it. And there's a fair amount of retro action elsewhere on G4.

I've never got the feeling that they were biased, just dumb. as for the person who said something like "just go to gamefaqs." DOn't do that, they are as bad as G4. Fuck em all

I couldn't agree more. But, the episode of Starcade I saw today really pissed me off. They have five games, and they get to play four in the time allotted. The five games I saw today were Zoo Keeper, Cosmic Chasm, Pole Position 2, something else I couldn't remember, and Dig Dug. They didn't play Dig Dug. GGGGRRRRRR...

It was down between CC and DD, and the guy chose CC, and he lost. It's a good game, sure, but nowhere near as godly as DD! I kinds suck at CC anyway. I'm glad he lost. Serves him right for blowing off one of the absolute greatest arcade games ever. EVER. :bad-words:

I really think there should be a DP channel, and it should host a new Starcade. Just a thought... ;)

does anyone know if there are any plans to bring G4 to DirecTV?

I havent heard anything about G4 coming to DirecTV, but I email them every day, almost. Do the same thing. Go to G4's website and they have a thing to email your satellite company. If every here does it... I'm sure they wont give a crap, but at least we tried! WHO'S WITH ME?

Comcast put G4 on my digital cable a little over a year ago and I do watch it quite regularly. I like Pulse, Cheat, and Judgement Day. I check Icons out when its interesting. I even signed up on the G4 message boards. I used to like Game Sauce but too many reruns until I found the new shows on Game Show Network and watch them there.

The best part of G4 which I don't get is that I can pick and choose which programs to watch by downloading episodes off of the newsgroups :)

Right now I have a few Icons, Starcades, and the Filter episode with CCE2K3 coverage to watch. I usually don't keep any episodes after watching unless they are a main area of interest (mostly Atari).

I've been watching it recently on a "Preview" channel we have (random digital cable channels are played for about a week on channel 53 here)

It's... alright. I do enjoy Starcade and some other shows here and there, but i'd love to see older games featured more often. Or maybe a Collectors Closet show :)

Or or.... a show about shooters.... and a show that ranks the best games for a random system (There is a show that has like "Top 10 Action Games", but I want a Top 10 Sega CD show!)

end rant :)
