View Full Version : Bad News for my Atari 2600 VCSP

I fired up my portable Atari 2600 VCSP last night for the first time in months. I bought it when Ben H was still making them (Ver 5). Long story short, it seems to not be working. I get wavy lines and no sound or games are working. UGH! I paid a ton for it. I emailed Ben last night asking if he can take a look at it. Hope to hear from him soon, it could just be a short or something simple. I hope its something he is able to and willing to fix.
If anyone has any suggestions or similar experience with theirs please let me know

Sounds like dirty contact to me. Did you try cleaning the contacts first?
If that doesn't work, a loose connection or cracked solder at the cart connector's the most likely culpert.

Thats our answer to every Console gaming problem :lol:
Game won't play, clean the contacts. Buggy game, clean the contacts. No Picture, clean the contacts. But it's a Sega Saturn! phht... Clean the contacts.

I did try cleaning my carts again and seeing if that helps. I tried several games that all work in my full size 2600 , nothing seems to work on the vcsp. But I will clean everything and try again. Its worth a shot. Once I get it working again I think I may just sell it.
