Do you spend more than 20 hours a week cruising through flea markets "Chasing the Chuckwagon?" Do you think that Ms Pac-Man has got it all over Lara Croft? Can you get to level 8-1 in Super Mario Brothers without losing a life? Think that Final Fantasy died after the 16-bit era? Do you know what a Yar is? If so, then you need to be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the East Coast Gaming Expo!

Spanning two days in February 2004 is the East Coast Gaming Expo (www.ecgx.com), bringing collectors from all over the United States and
abroad together at the beautiful Adam's Mark Hotel for a weekend of celebrating our video game heritage! Video game playing and collecting
veterans Chuck Whitby and Adam Harvey have come together to make February 13th and 14th THE weekend to be in the city of brotherly love, showing off everyone's love of gaming.

ECGX will feature 16,000 square feet of events such as tournaments, game sales, trading, contests, and of course plenty of game systems set up to play your favorite games of yore! Check out all the latest info at www.ecgx.com, and be sure to talk with your fellow gamers in our discussion forums! Be there or be the hero from Adventure!

Rock on! See, now you don't have to worry about having a date for Valentine's Day! You'll be too busy at the East Coast Gaming Expo!

PS: So is it ECGE or ECGX?

I dont understand why this is so close to Philly Classic Date. Not that I can go anyway, because it is Valentines Day. Oh well, maybe next year.

Hey, that was what I heard all this year about the Austin Gaming Expo being so close to CGE. It stands to reason that this is merely a coincidence as well.

Finally an expo that is really close to where I live...and it doesn't appear to have any baggage atttached to it.

Joe, are you making an appearance with DP there?

Ooo, not too far either.
The adams mark is a nice hotel, too.

We'll have to round up all the NECG guys and have convoy.
One that's truckin'

...through the night.

I'm done :D

"make an appearance"... ?

We'll be there with BELLS on! BELLS, I tell ya!

I'm looking forward to this event, run by a great bunch of guys who really care about the classic gaming community. If I can't stand behind that, what else is there?

Very much more to follow!

HOLY FREAKING S**T!!!!!!!!!!

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES

Finally, an event that's hosted in my home state!!! The 14th and the 15th are a Saturday and Sunday in that order, right? PLEASE don't tell me that it's during the weekdays! If it's not, then I certainly guarantee you that I will indeed be there! :D :D :D :D :D

BTW, when I get there, wish me a happy b-day. Sure, it would be belated, since I was born on the 11th of February. But it's only a three/four-day margin, so a Happy Birthday woule make me smile. :)

Glad to see we have some definate enthusiasm going on! You bet, it's a weekend, we don't need any gamers getting fired for not showing up for work during the week. 8*)

How old are you gonna be? If you're 21, I'll buy ya' a drink at the bar! 8*) (even if your're not... j/k).

Yes, we all better start making travel arrangements. 8*)

If you're planning on spending the night, be sure to do it at Adam's Mark, they gave us a nice $99 rate for the show.

I must go to this. Now all I need is someone to ride/drive with and room with.

Any other mid-south Ohioans going that would like to hook up for it? That would be schweet.

Head on over to the ECGX forums, we have a forum dedicated just to people looking for rides and bunkers.

It's a shame that's your attitude. Perhaps you'd like to organize an event up in your neck of the woods?

BTW, free Vecs to anyone from Connecticut! (kidding... kidding)

Just wanted to let everyone here know, in case you aren't visiting the ECGX page regularly (and why wouldn't you be?!), we have just signed up our arcade sponsor, TNT Amusements. Todd will be bringing down a nice selection of minis and cabarets out of his personal collection to be set on free play all weekend long!

Just another reason why ECGX is the east coast video game hot spot in 2004.

The weather doth hast barred me from the ceremonious gathering of NAVA, but NO harsh weather or random disasters, be it rain, snow, sleet, hail, fires, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, plane crashes, shipwrecks, monster attacks, nuclear holocausts, or killer UFOs will serve as obstacles in my trip to EGCX!!! Whoever decided to host it in Philly, I want to hug that person. PA's my home, baby! Oh, and if I manage to pull a few strings, I'll be driving there on a sit-down Outrun cabinet.

You bring up an interesting point tho' that I forgot to mention. If anyone's coming that wishes to bring coin-ops for people to play, you're MORE than welcome to. We have AMPLE room to have a nice size arcade going. We may even do a price break for those who do bring coin-ops down.

I have several times, and i taped it.
I even went so far to rent a hall in the ramada inn...
but pretty much the moral of gamers in CT has died to a minimal.

I gave away a vectrex machine, in NY .
It was taking up too much room on my tv stand lol.
it ended up on a shelf at multimedia 1.0 store

Yes,,, Id gladly represent the powers that be, if they were to throw
a videogame event in my area.

Ok ill do you one better...

I have access to a large two bay garage shop.
I can get it all set up with tables and videogame setups and whatnot..

My birthday is like the same time as the philly meet.
Those in the connecticut area that can not make it that far can hook up
with me for a party/tourney/swapmeet .
Ill spring for the food and whatnot.

BTW im getting rid of alot of videogame collectables as well (maxlords can vouch for this, so long as i put the cordless duo controller aside for him haha)
so if your intrested in trading and a party let me know and ill give you directions..
Its gonna be in a car customizing shop, so if you need car gear, i can give out discounts on that stuff too.

i expect at least 30 local traders to show and one of them has stuff like supergrafx units and a marty towns for sale

I wish I'd go, but it is awfully close to PhillyClassic in terms of dates, and there's the distance thing.

Anyway, there's PC5 and, hopefully, CGE for me next year... let's if I can put enough funds aside for both events (I intend on fly to Philly so I can actually see the city a bit before heading to King of Prussia... and pick up a few Flyers memorabilia).

Well, Christmas just screwed over future ECGX attendance for yours truly. One gift my wife and I got from my in-laws were tickets to an off-Boardway musical she's had her heart set on seeing. Yup, the tickets are for Feb. 14. You should've seen her face light up - and mine fell.

Still a big supporter, but won't be an attendee this year. Urgh. :(

I'm sorry to announce that ECGX is being postponed due to lack of interest (although interest was definately shown here).

We just didn't get the necessary amount of tickets and tables prebooked that we would have considered to be a good sign of a large turnout.

I don't want to get everyone's hopes up for a new date, but we will be holding the event some time this year.

We're looking to take on a third and possibly fourth organizer for the event. If this is something you'd be interested in making happen, please send me an e-mail at chuck@toomanygames.com Organizers have to be available at least one day a week for a few hours to discuss what's going on with the organization aspects of the show.

Well, it's "postponed," not "canceled." I hope the next date isn't too far back... :o
