To you Gamecube owners this may sound like the impossible, but I assure you miracles do happen. No from Nintendo as it turns out but from the fans.
The Warp Pipe project created this PC app, that tricks any LAN-enabled Gamecube title such as Kirby Air Ride or Mario Kart Double Dash into playing over the net. More details can found at www.warppipe.com

This is terrible news. Remember, Nintendo informed us that Nintendo fans don't want online playable games.

I'm not a Microsoft fan, but I do admit I like the XBOX Live slogan "It's good to play together". Online gaming is here to stay, and Nintendo needs to realize this if they hope to stay alive in the future.

Now it's time to play online games on GC.

I have been playing games online for a long time. Anybody remember the Dreamcast? Xbox live is good but people have figured out how to hack the games. Return to Castle Wolfenstein comes to mind. Playstation 2 is good until they release Gameshark codes for a game. I am not as confident as everyone else about online games. I hate using the microphone to chat it really bothers me talking to little kids all the time.

Like I said.. next Nintendo Console will be the end of the Nintendo the console maker. Probably best, they don't listen to the fans..

they had a longer run then Atari. The 18-25 year old generation is about to get their "remember Nintendo?" Like how the 28-35 gaming demographic sees Atari.

Hehe, here come the hardcore Nintendo geeks.. well, guess what! I'm one of you.. :D Nintendo has made some mistakes that they will not be able to recover from.

Think I'll start a thread on it... :)

Then what about this news which I seem to be hearing about everywhere.
That Nintendo will release Gamecube 2 late next year.

Nintendo already said that they are not going to show a new console at e3. So I don't think that will come out next year. I also don't think nintendo is going anywhere anytime soon. Also I have been reading that all of the console makers are doing pretty bad right now. This generation of consoles has leveled out and we won't know anything until next gen. Also Nintendo lost what $36 Million for the first time since they went public. That is going to put them in the hole for sure.

ok, they lost 36 million for one quarter in what, 40 years? That's still pretty good.

I personally couldn't give a shit about online play, and even though so many people say its awesome, not even half the PS2 and Xbox owners have the online services.

Whether or not nintendo's next console will be their last has yet to be seen...the business in general seemed to take a downturn this year, not just big N. But somehow, I don't think its going to be online services that do them in.

Old News. But I have a new question. I am intrested in this, is it only for colleges, causeit asks what server im using (listed only colleges).

Colleges have HUGE bandwidths (gigabit in this case) so it's aimed for them. You can do it on other lans, but I'm sure it won't work that well right now. I'm waiting for nice stability on a normal DSL line (what most people have).

I don't yet have the game, but are you guys saying I can't play it on my regular home cable connection?
