Sears 6 switch atari

Please once again excuse my lack of a DP guide (getting one for x-mas).

Is the Sears brand 6 switch atari 2600 as rare/valuable as the atari brand 6 switch? Are there any actual diffrences between the two? How did sears get away with such blatent copying back then?

I really don't know if the Sears 2600 is rarer than the Atari version. However, back in "the day", whenever someone wanted to sell something for Sears, Sears also wanted their own version of the product. So when Atari sold the 2600 in Sears stores, Sears got their own version (Atari still manufactred them, though). Also, besides some minor cosmetic differences, both the Atari and Sears 2600s are exactly the same.

From what I have seen, the Sears Video Arcade II is the rarest of the Sear's series of 2600 systems which is almost identical to Japanese Atari 2800, with prices sometimes going over $100.00 boxed. There is also an Atari 2600 (VCS) system that has "Promotional Use Only Not for Resale" stamped on the box that can be quite the rarity when found complete. I would say that if you are looking in the wild, the Sears model's will be a little harder to come by, depending on the model. Usually the most common Sears 2600 system, is the Tele-Games 6 switch Video Arcade which is the sears verison of the 2600 (6 switch) and is slightly harder to come by then VCS 6 switch, but can probably be picked up at the same price if not cheaper.
