I just picked up a new Atari 2600 collection from my local Best Buy. It's called Atari: 80 Classic Games in One. What makes this collection interesting is the selection of games. The collection includes a mix of classic Atari 2600 games as well as some Arcade only games. Also, included in the 2600 selections are some pretty RARE and unusual 2600 games. BTW, the collection was $19.99

Another interesting find, Included on the CD is a selection of "Bonus Material" among which includes a snapshop of each Atari 2600 game box and manual with a note that the pics were used with permission from AtariAge.com. Interesting that Atari would have to go to someone else for scans of their own properties.

There's also an interview with Nolan Bushnell and a nice collection of pictures from Atari trade shows, commercials, ads, etc...

Nah, that's representin' the Atari community. Nice to see that they've gotten the AA name out there.

Other than that, yeah, looks like Atari's in a bit of a mess as far as archives go. I think the real Atari's history is all left over here in the states, in people's basements. The French will never own Atari.

Just got this tonight too and am really enjoying it! :-P It's the first time I've seen the Atari titles for the 2600 in an official collection (as opposed to the Activision ones). I also like how they even put in games like Basic Programming LOL

But what I'm really digging right now is the Major Havoc! It's not as good as the real thing, but with the presentation and the tweaked control, it's definitely a step above Mame. :D

Now THIS is a retro comp. If more companies would release packs like this, maybe they wouldn't have to worry abour ROMS so much.
