In light of recent debates about Nintendo's future, a look at the company's history is perhaps in order. This article argues that the Big N's competition-crushing grip on the industry was largely beneficial for gamers.

Sega fans might take issue with some of the author's comments, but it's still an interesting take on the Nintendo era.

No one dumps THAT heavily on the Megadrive and gets away with it!!!

heh. i just don't agree with that article. the only sega system i ever owned was a dreamcast...but to bash sega like that is just lame. they have always been a good publisher. they've had some great systems (so what...the 32x and sega cd were lacking ARGUABLY, and hell i'll give him the benifit of the doubt and give him the saturn...but the 64 and the VB were lacking also IMO) that's what... 3:2 ? then he goes on to insinuate that nintendo didn't have bad games...which doesn't even deserve a comment. then he goes on making comparisons between the pc world and the gaming world which really don't make any sense without even mentioning linux nonetheless. He also condones nintendo's pricing...which for the most part has been unreasonable. As far as I can remember, games were always much more expensive untill sony came along. also, his first sentence ends with a prepostion. LOL
on the other hand, i can kind of see his point. the market crashed and we really did need another major system. nintendo fixed alot of atari's problems as far as licensing, etc. nintendo made quality games (i like consoles who also make their own games btw).

Well, NES Monopoly IS great, i love it and spent a lot of hours with this game and tragically (for me), i have to admit that NES version is better than SMS version... :o

This is definately the greatest version of Monopoly ever. It's even greater than the board game!
