Yard sale season is over for the most part. (There weren't any in my local paper at all today!) Still, I wonder which system or type of games everybody finds most often when they hit yard sales.

In my experience, it's Sega Genesis stuff. Kids don't care about it, and parents are willing to give it away to get rid of it. I've had a woman beg me to take a Genny Model 1 away, and another one threw in free games after I bought a Model 2 system from her.

As an aside, I still have yet to see an NES cartridge at a yard sale...

This is the generation of SNES. I find SNES everywhere.

Sega Genesis sports games. These things are EVERYWHERE. After that, Sonic 2 and Vectorman.

Nes for sure. I find at least 10-15 systems each garage sale season. Genisis is 2nd wit around 5-10 a year. The season lasts from about may-september.

I see more Genesis consoles then anything but they are usually outrageously priced around here, like $75 or something with some guy talking about how much they were new.The thrift store sells them for $5.

I find NES stuff the most. I got about 8 consoles (2 boxed) this summer (I left a lot behind too), and a whole bunch of games as well.

If you were wondering why I need 8 NES systems, I got games with each of them...

Genny Sports games. By far. However, I predict that in the future, PS1 games will be the most common at yard sales, beyond any of the newest console games and N64 simply because of the large library of games.

Genny sports games and SMB/DH. People at flea markets around here that only have one game have SMB/DH.
NES systems are fairly common around hear, but i seem to be seeing less and less.

Genesis consoles for me. Most people can't give those things away. I see them priced at $2 routinely and pass them up. I'm sure others pass them up too, or they'd be gone by the time I got to them.

Genesis has got to be the least collected major console out there.

NES, NES, NES. I found only one Genesis system for sale at a yard sale this past year, fortunatly for me it was a perfectly working model 3 :)

I truly truly don't like the NES, for some reason there's a select few 8-bit games I enjoy, most are on the TG-16. So OF COURSE when I'm looking for deals it's all NES stuff. Which means I sell most of it on eBay.

However, when I get rare NES stuff for cheap, it doesn't seem so bad anymore, like the Tengen Tetris I scored for 25 cents.

Always NES, some Genesis (always common games like Sonic 2 and EA sports titles), and N64.

I find more NES and Genesis accessories than anyhing. Games and Systems don't crop up very often around here.

During the summer, I probably hit about 20 yard sales every weekend, so I think I have a pretty big sample of data for my area. I also happen to have an anomalous area, though.

I'd say here it's a tie between the Genesis and the TI994a. Yep, the ti99. I live right near a TI facility and there are thousands of former TI employees around here. There are saturday mornings when I come home with 4 TI99s and 3 speak and spells. People rarely if ever want more than $1 or two for them, too. It's common to see a dusty old box at a yard sale here with 2 ti99s, tons of books/manuals/etc, and like 20 carts not to mention all kinds of binders of notes/programs/cassettes full of homebrew type stuff.

The Genesis, like everywhere else, is everywhere. Every weekend I see at least 1 Genesis for around $5 with a batch of common games.

All summer, the only pre-nes console I saw was an Odyssey2, with a search area of probably 500 yard sales.
