Ok, i have a confession, i know next to nothing about an Atari 2600.
Ive only played around 5-6 games on it at my friends house, and i just purchased one.
I have no clue on how to hook it up to the TV, and what you need. I just have a 4 switch and the plug thingie that sticks out of the back of the system is all frayed and messed up.
Any suggestions or site links are appreciated.

If your cable is frayed, get another one. You can simply take the cover off the 2600, unplug that cable on the inside, and plug in the new one. get one of these http://www.atariage.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_28&products_id=42 from ratshack, and stick it on the end of the new cable, and then plug it in to the cable input on your TV.
then play!

One more question before this thread dies: What type of cable is it? Is it any special one, or is it something i can pick up locally?

Any RCA type cable will work, but the ideal is a genuine RF cable. They are shielded, and will deliver a better picture. I have not been able to find 'new' RF cables. The only way I find genuine RF cables is at thrifts, and with old systems, like ColecoVisions and Inty's.
Good Luck!
