Kung Fu RULES!!! I absolutely love that game. My question is how did Spelunker rate so high?

24 is just River City Ransom. Sounds as if he was referring to one of the many Kunio sports games.

Ah, thank you. Is there a whole series of 'River City' games?

Yup.

Theres als dodgeball, baseball, soccer, a track and field type game, and I believe an ice hockey game.

The Super Famicom baseball game was pretty asstacular but Super Dodgeball rocks the house 8-)

...Interesting. I guess I can't feel so bad about not knowing about all the lesser known titles from later on since it appears these folks don't either :P

An' why the heck IS Spelunker on that list? O_o

What's the point of the top 30 Famicom games when the list is primarily stuff that was also available on the NES? You'd think they'd want to rank the best games that were never released in the US...

I actually have Tower of Druaga coming in the mail from Japan some time this week with some other Famicom carts, can't wait!

I think the main reason is that the list came from Japan. In the article, it explains that there is a 20 year retrospective with all 1200 famicom games on display. The poll was done by the exhibitors, in Tokyo.
