Just wondering, i'd like to see what everyone else does.

I set the time limit to infinate, best 2 out of 3, and the handicap all the way up for both of us.

Infinite, 2 out of 3, handicap all the way down on both.

Why all the way down? Any big reasons or do you just like it that way?

I don't know....it's just sort of the way I've always done it. Maybe we're thinking of different things. I'm thinking that when a fighting game starts up, the handicaps are all thw way down unless you move them. Or are they usually somewhere in the middle? In any case, I don't usually mess with them, wherever they are.

They are in the middle for most games I think. I put it all the way up to make the battles last longer.

When I play with my friends, its always infinite time, 2 out of 3, handicaps on default settings. Other than that, anything goes....unless we're playing an old game like the original SF2 where a tactic such as "toss a sonic boom - wait for opponent to block - then grab and throw him" isnt allowed...though personally, I wouldnt mind. By any means necessary is my motto lol

Let's just say that when my friends and I get done playing fighting games...we usually have to go right to the store and get new controllers...because we all mash the unholy hell out of those buttons!!! Technique be damned!!!

I hear ya, but for a different reason: controllers are usually thrown in frustration!

As for options, I usually have the handicap set to whatever setting will prolong the fight. If the game is SSBM, I make victory settings stock 4. Timed matches can be a little unfair.

Max handicap, max rounds, infinite time. Back when Toshinden was THE 3D PSX fighter, we did 9 round matches that would be 45 minute epics with Duke v. Ellis. I was Ellis of course, stupid cumbersome knight....

I also have now taken to the "No crotch shots" rule, where when I beat my opponent 10 straight times they are, in fact, not allowed to hit me in the jumblies.

Since this is a thread about fighting games, this may be a good time to bring this up....

I've never liked the idea of the Guard Crush. Or should I say, I don't like how it's been implemented, because it seems to me that the G-Crush promotes overly offensive play. I've always thought that it would be fair that if a game is to have a G-Crush, it should have an "Offensive Drain" as well, where over reliance on tossing fireballs, sonic booms, burning knuckles or any other special move, drains a spirit meter like in Art of Fighting. Just today I was playing Mark of the Wolves and (I think vs Kain) I blocked back to back supers that had maybe a two second window timing between em and I was flashing red like a mofo. One tap lil Jab would've opened me up for a major beat down. That successful block was penalized, yet someone could actually stand in a corner and toss fireballs all day without consequence. *shrugs*

Everything default unless we are screwing around. It helps keep it more like the arcade. I hate turning the health all the way up.

Pretty much ..
( infinite time, 2 out of 3, handicaps on default settings.)

It also depends on the game..I may leave it at all default settings..

Otherwise I just go in to Cower mode myself..With all the fighting games I play..I still suck at them..
It still keeps me coming back for more because I'm never able to actually beat someone who is better than me but it keeps me trying..(I'm not a sore loser)
If I play someone who is in the same boat with me as being not so good, then I win some and lose some..It's more fun for me this way.
I try not to master all of the KOFs on the cab because none of my friends will be able to beat me then they'll never want to play against me.

I brought a Tekken 3 cab in today that I had in storage..
This was one of the games that I was better at though....I'm not sure what settings this machine has yet.

I suck at fighters too but I still try to play them. Anyhow for me its infinite time, 2 out of 3, handicaps at default. Sometimes we'll goof around and lower or higher them for more fun.

I leave it all arcade settings. Whats the point of screwing around with handicaps? And when you turn time off, you get guys who just sit there and wait for you to attack em so they can punish you. So, give me time, give me normal health.

I have altered nothing in any fighting game I've played against a human opponent. We keep it strictly default. I'm pretty good at fighting games, so I usually let the options be. It's not like I'm the grandmaster pimp of them, but at the least, I'm not a n00b. If anyone wants to challenge me at them, then perhaps we might be able to arrange a network game through Kalliera...

Usually when me and a friend or my cousin or someone play a fighter, it depends on the fighter and how much we both play it. Sometimes the handicap goes up, sometimes not. We like to make it as even a match as possible, so we adjust it accordingly.

Same here. Im all about the arcades for fighters, and i love default.
