If you could force every member of these forums to play--and I mean really play--any game of your choice with total and undivided devotion from start to finish, what game would you pick and why? Would you pick an under-rated gem, and open our eyes to something great? Inversely, you could also pick an over-rated piece of trash, and make us all realize how wrong we are about glorifying it. Would you be creative and choose Stadium Events to whip us all into shape??? Anything goes, so keep in mind you would be reaching the true video game fanatics of the world with whatever message you choose to send.

I wanna know!

I would have to say the latest and greatest MMORPG that is out. Why? Because not only does the game not have an end and we could play forever and all at the same time, no taking turns. MMORPGs are really social and fun.

I've got you covered there; it's an awesome game!

Are you actually the person linked to in your sig? That's pretty impressive, doc.

About Planescape: Torment, it's PC only, right? How much could I expect to find it priced for? If it turns out to suck, though, I'm gonna be mad!

Oh, and personally I would make everyone play The Legend of the Mystical Ninja for SNES. Why? As an under-appreciated game, I'd bet that most people here haven't played it. Also, because it's so challenging, many people would partner up with a little bro/friend/etc. to beat it. All in all, I think people would be happy.

PS:T comes packaged with some crappy game for $10. There's usually lots of them in the bargain bin at Best Buy. It's PC only, but it's an infinity engine game (like Baldur's Gate), so it wouldn't really work without something to point and click with.

I'd pick Prince of Persia for SNES, mostly because everyone I know gets frustrated with the play control and gives up without passing the first level. This game was ported to a lot of platforms, but I'd say the SNES version is the best one. Beautiful play control (once you do get the hang of it), perfect music, great level design, fun sword-fighting engine, immersive story through out, devious bad guy, etc, etc, etc. I really think every oldschool gamer needs to experience this game from start to finish.

Archon for the C64. with another human player. If just to be reminded of how good it is, or to be introduced to it for the first time.

C64 is my fave version of the game.

Better not be Haunted Castle or somebody's gonna walk out the door with your head, Sotenga

I really would have to say I could care less about forcing anybody to play a game :P

If I had to go with a default I'd choose some obscure thing or other just so everybody could see what they've been missing out on. I guess.

why? because of all the damn naysayers out there... this IS zelda, and it DOES live up to all past installments of the series.

Shadow of the Ninja for NES....very very underappreciated. This game takes Ninja Gaiden and wipes its ass with it!

Also, Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure for PS2, why? Because most people are too busy saying "I ain't playin no Disney shit" to take the time and appreciate a damn good game, same with Tarzan Untamed.

You would, too, since it's one of the level 5 moves.

I'd make everyone play Berzerk. For hours. I think there are too many people in this hobby now who don't have enough perspective on how far games have come from the beginning.

I'm checking this one out. I've never even heard of this game.

There are a lot of replies that I can agree with... I even half agree with the DDR suggestion, even though I've never played it...

Jay, let me try a game that will ease your pain of the horrendous steamer known as Athena: Psycho Soldier! This game's actually pretty good. It can qualify as a shmup, and we all know how much I love shmups! Athena Asamiya herself is player 1, and player 2 is Sie Kensou! His name's spelled Kensu in this game, however. Plus, it began the famous theme song of Athena, which I will now sing:

Athena's name is magic, mystery is what you see
Her crystal is the answer, fighting fair, to keep us free
She's just a little girl with powers inside, burning bright
You better hide if you are bad... she'll get you
She'll use her mind to find if
You believe in right or wrong
Fire, fire, Psycho Soldier
Fire, fire, Psycho Soldier

GREATEST. THEME. SONG. EVER. :rocker: \^_^/ :rocker:

So, I'd want everyone to play PS, just so I can jam the song in their heads, and they'll never be able to get it out.

First of all... Final Fantasy 7 kicked ass.. but of course thats my opinion.

I would make you (wouldnt me necessary after hour 4) play XENOGEARS. this game is the definition of awesome, and fortunatly, they are reprinting it for PSone... so go get it, hos.

aydubnb,

I paid full pop for WOTM and felt like I got more than my money's worth out of it.

Not only are the unlockables so very cool with the four skins per monster and the extra levels and mini games but beneath the basic game play there is a deeper level of play that opens up a much more rewarding combat element once mastered.

Some of my favorites methods of destruction are...
Collapsing a building on your opponent.
The Excalibur sword.
Scoring a hit with the tidal wave
Hucking any flammable explosive object (tanker trucks etc...)
Throwing the little airplanes on the airport level (just damn cool!)
Pulling off combos and specials together and... rage mode kills.
Too many to list!

Favorite monster.
Mecha Congor and Ice Congor (2nd Favorite Ultra-V: costume 4-female)

Favorite Levels
Tsunopolis
Midtown Park

We must have completely opposite taste in games. I can't STAND Xenogears. Square RPGs you say? Give me FF4, FF6, FF8, FF Tactics, Chrono Trigger or Vagrant Story any day!

Everything you said is so, so true. It definitely one of my most logged games on PS2. The engine is deceptively simple. Sure someone can button mash a good six hits or so, but I love going for the odd attacks like implaling someone and then knocking a buiding on em lol Or picking up an explosive item and using the Ultra V long range punch to to shove it right into their faces and BAM!

as an aside...I freakin' love Psycho Soldier...is it fully functional in MAME yet? I play the hell out of my older version that doesn't quite work right...

Anyway, my game that I would force everyone to play is Gunstar Heroes.

You'll thank me later :)

And just be glad I didn't pick my favorite 2600 game...Journey Escape...

I'm going to say G-Police. If it wasn't for the bad draw in it would have been a bigger hit. It's a damn hard game to boot. One of my favorites. I made it about half way through the game but I still have the save on my memory card.
