I've been staying in the dorms for the last 2 years, and never had a problem with thieves and stolen property. but over the thanksgiving break, some dumb fuck decided to break into my dorm and steal my Dreamcast, 2 controlers, 4 vmus, and a dozen games from the living room.
think they are trying to sell it, cause they didn't pick up my copy of japanese strip poker (ebay is great) and my emulation CDs. at least they didn't take my ps2 from my bedroom. and my private collection of Dreamcast games. and my vmu with samba de amigo downloads.
come to think about it, it could've been a lot worse...
but the Dreamcast was my baby. it was the first system that i ever bought new, and within 6 months of release. it helped me with my video projects, and provided hours of fun for me and my buddies.
reporting the situation to the proper people, and hopefully i'll find it before it gets thrashed.

That Sucks..Someone knew you were away..
What sucks is it could of been someone you knew or someone they told.
Keep an eye out for DC related Ebay Auctions in your area..They may try to Sell it on Ebay.
Check your local gaming stores, someone may have traded it in..
Keep your ears open within your School dorm area..Thieves love to brag or even slip up and tell to much.
Put a Reward out for it..Slightly higher then what the trade value is..
Offer a reward to your friends to find it or info leading to the person whose head you can take off with a bat..
Find out whose known to be a thief...and who the game players are within the dorm..game talk may lead you to your stuff.
Who all the sudden got a new system from a trade in or a DC w/games.
I could write a ton of stuff to do..
I don't go down easy being ripped off...I hate a theif..

What he said. Good chance you'll get it back if that's the case :)
Anyhow...man, just thinking about what would happen if somebody broke into my room...not a pleasant feeling o-O

Sadly enough, most of the time when that happens in college, from a locked dorm room, it was stolen by a roommate. A roommate who knows they'll be leaving soon, or will have new roommates soon, or some other issues. I found that during my years in college I couldn't put anything down out of my sight, ever. EVER. It was so bad, one time I was taking an exam in an auditorium. I put my bookbag under my desk, less than a foot away from me under my chair. Someone stole it while I was taking my exam. THEY STOLE MY BAG FROM RIGHT UNDER MY ASS. In it were all of my books and my calculator (~$100). That theft probably cost me $600 total as well as the unsubmitted work that was taken.
College is just a big bag of thieves. You can't stop it. Leave pretty much everything at home that you wouldn't readily leave on the side of the road.

Either a roomate or someone else on the floor. Recently they found that some students in one of the buildings was crawling through the ceiling and dropp into rooms and stealing other peoples stuff. Luckily they were caught.
Also, in relation to college genius... a worker in one of the computer labs at PSU decided he was going to take all the RAM and CPU's out of a lab of about 40 machines. There were no cameras in the lab but the logs on the login server showed only one person logged into that lab during that day. Of course the guy was "kind of" smart and didn't show up for work the next day and couldn't be found right away. Apparently he sold them on ebay becuase a guy in California recieved a large load of ram and CPU's that still had the PSU serial numbers written on them. Pretty easy evidence... and they found the scholar.
Stupid people.

for some odd reason, i wish there was someone in this school that had balls to pull those off. it's just stupid petty shit that's been lifted by clepto's (like cd's and dvd's).
bastards.

That sounds so familiar. In my highschool, I help out in the tech department. The other day we had been informed that someone was stealing the ram out of some Tangent computers. How they opened up the case, stole the ram, and put everything back together without getting caught or making noise is totally beyond me.
A similar thing happened with some of the Ibooks. However, this thief (s) didn't steal the airport card while they were stealing.
Very stupid.

Dude, so sorry to hear about this. The location you have in your profile puts you in western NM, around Gallup? If you have time to drive into Albuquerque, you can replace most of your missing hardware and games here for little cost. DC's pop up in the thrift stores occasionally, but the Gamestops always have stuff in stock. PM me if you need a guide in town and I'll be happy to help you find whatever you can in the way of replacements.

hit the pawn shops and ask if anyone has pawned off any DC stuff. That list you posted would be a good to prove to the owner, just make sure you file a report with the cops. If they find it, you'll get it back....but they really don't go looking for this stuff, it usually turns up in traffic stops or a bust of some sort. A little bit of legwork and the DC could be back in your hands :D
