Hollywood Video is Blockbuster's competition. They're mainly a video rental store. They sell some used games, but their used game selection is poor and overpriced.

Some Hollywoods have Game Crazy attached to them, which is their attempt to breaking into the game selling market. Some people like them but I won't get started on what I think of them. x_x

They still haven't replied to my question of their "actual" return policy.

We've got a Hollywood Video/Game Crazy right down the street from our apartment. I wasn't impressed at all. The prices do seem to be unusually high and pretty lousy selection (coming from someone out of practice on the buying side of things.) Needless to say, I walked out of there empty handed the few times I checked it out. My money was better spent at the GameStop up the road or on eBay.

On the other hand, my friend just picked up a Final Fantasy (nes) with instructions for, like, $4 so their prices aren't ALL bad.

Their club thing SUCKS though. $20 a year, and i don't even get a magazine? SCREW YOU.

Well well well, another Game Crazy thread. I gotta toss my 2 cents into this.

I've gotten a LOT of PS2 games for <$15 there. A LOT. Most recently Kingdom Hearts.

And that buy $50 worth of stuff get system free deal is nicenicenice. Got me a Dreamcast again thanks to that.

Hey cmosfm, they're not really around much in SC (at least in the upstate area) but we recently got one in Greenville (it's in the Cherrydale Point shopping center), and it pretty much sucks. Ours doesn't have a game crazy, but it does have the old Blockbuster "let's sell the shit that no one rents anymore" scheme going, where you overpay for a scratched copy of a 2 year old sports game. I'm not impressed. I'll stick to Gamestop and Game Cavern (EB can eat my ass after fucking up my last purchase TWICE, on a purchase only consisting of TWO items).

We've got Hollywood vid here in Albuquerque, and it holds its own against venerable old Blockbuster. I'm not sure what they're game rental/sales are like, but I can tell you that the ones here do stock a great selection of "cult" movies; better than one would expect from a national chain. I know that li'l tidbit is not game related, but it's worth mentioning just the same.

My local holywood video has a small selection of games, for example, lets say a very popular new game like grand theft auto 4 came out or something, they would have at most 5 copies of the game. Also, they are VERY overpriced. The last thing I bought from them was jet set radio future on box for 10$. (w/ box)

they suck for the most part
they have an x in the backround of their sign
a direct rip off of game x change
and their sign says buy sell trade
but they only sell and trade
and their all dicks that work at mine
but i did get dragon warrior 3 and contra there for 5 bucks each

Say what they will about Game Crazy, i've gotten some good stuff there. Hell today while getting a christmas present, I picked up a copy of Star Soldier for n64 for myself. Maybe not the best game, but hell, shooter is a shooter.

My game crazy has a HUGE selection. This may be because they are somewhat overpriced but not too rediculous.

The holywood video part of the store it awsome. MUCH better than blockbuster (in my humble opinion). You get all rentals for 5 days. The people are nicer, the selection is better, they have more "Guarenteed in Stock," and GREAT coupons. I never go to blockbuster anymore.
