Not that I was planning on buying one anytime soon, but they've pretty seriously downgraded some of the specs on the upcoming PSX in Japan. Here. (http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6084834.html) Some "all-in-one" appliance...

There is a link, "here".
That is interesting, although 700 for the lower end model.... not I.

Jeez, what a list of features gone!
Great way of doing business...get everybody hyped and then cut the features you never really wanted to include in the first place. They'll be making some sales to people who'll look forward to the MP3 capability (though obviously they shouldn't see that as the reason to buy it, it was one extra point).

No CD-R support??? What a fucking joke! Just about every cheap $50 dvd player out there supports cd-r's, but not Sonys. Go figure.

heh, i thought the whole deal with this thing was that it could burn dvds at 24X...while the pc burners are stuck at what...8X or 12X? I bet they couldn't do it to begin with...

So with such a list of features removed from the PSX what features does it still have that justifies the price tag?

Maybe because you'll be the only one on the block with it ? :o
Would that be reason enough to buy it ? :-P
