I never had Intellivision growing up, and do not have a console and have not collected for it. But of course I had to rent the collection. The first few games I have played on it have really sucked ass, Atari was better than these games, maybe there's a reason I never went for the Intellivision! But there's lots of them, so which ones are the good ones?

Astrosmash is one of the best games ever created for a console.

I can't think of more than a couple games that could conceivably play properly without the original Inty controller. By properly, I mean playable.

Do not write off the Intelly because the controls suck on the PS2 compilation.

The original 2609 IntelliVision controllers had 16!!! discrete directional impulses on that disc, and 16!!! buttons (4 action and 12 keypad) and many of the very best games were made specifically to capitalize on that controller. TRON Deadly Discs, Utopia, and Major League BaseBall spring to mind. I generally "hate" sports games, but IntelliVsion MLB, with the original controllers and overlays just rocks. Easy to learn to play, difficult to master.

Like the Atari 5200 controllers, when working perfectly, the IntelliVision controllers match up with the games very well in many many cases.

The Inty is VERY hard to emulate.

I don't recall what's exactly on there.. but I think I remember Capt. Wrong saying that alot of the good licensed titles didn't make it. Here's his review:

But, as Omnedon said, and I couldn't have said it better myself, the Intellivision is really un-emulatable... On that disc itself, try:

Two player games:
Sea Battle, Utopia, Sports games

One-or-Two players:
Body Slam Wrestling, and some of the Sports games that actually support single player..

Single player:
Thunder Castle, Thin Ice, Tower of Doom, Night Stalker

I don't actually have the listing of what's available on each, nor do I know how they control, but on a real Intellivision, you can't go wrong with those games.
