Some of you may or may not remember this: I have a Special Features article on the OPCFG which is my attempt to make a complete list of 2D games on 3D systems. A lot of you helped out whe the article was in its planning stages, but that was a while ago. Now, I need your help again.
Go here: http://www.geocities.com/opcfg2/2don3d.html - then check out the listings for PS2, GC and XBox. If you know of any 2D games that I don't already have listed for those systems (that are either currently out or are upcoming releases), please either let me know what they are here or by emailing axelay@ureach.com. For that matter, should you see any missing 2D games from the other systems I have listed, also please let me know.
Thanks!

Retsudo - no I didn't, it's right there next to its Japanese title, Capcom Generation Volume 5.
Zubiac - thanks for the list! I have to keep the Smash Bros. titles on the list, though, because they are primarily 2D.
Anyone know of any upcoming 2D PS2 or XBox games?

What about Blowout for PS2 and Xbox? Isn't that supposed to be a 2D in 3D shooter like Contra: Shattered Soldier? It's new so I haven't played it yet...
Also, what about Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil for PS2? It's a 2D platformer that has 3D cutscenes.
Don't forget about Intellivision Lives for PS2 and Xbox...

I'll be adding all of these soon. Thanks!
Isn't that Mega Man Anniversary Collection coming out for the PS2 (and maybe even the XBox) as well?

Makeruna Makendo 2 for PSX is a 2D Fighting game and is a sequel to the SNES Kendo Rage.

Border Down seems to be missing from your Dreamcast listing.

Well, the list hasn't been updated for a while...
This is great so far, guys. Got any more?

I agree. Neither of them were made with a 2d engine. So... I don't see how your explanation suffices.

Your site is the bomb. I have already bookmarked. I fully support your cause you wish you the best of luck!
I would also just like to mention that the new Ninja turtles game is far from 2D.

Thanks, cheesystick. Glad you like it!
Okay, on the whole SSB thing - sure it wasn't made with a 2D engine, but it's still primarily a 2D game, unlike Soul Calibur, for instance. Tell you what - I'm going to start a poll, and the results of the poll will determine whether or not I remove them from the list.

I'm not sure about some of these new additions...
Donkey Konga (music)
If you add this you might as well add DDR, Beatmania, Guitar Freaks + Drummania, Pop'n Music, Parappa the Rapper, Space Channel 5, Mad Maestro, etc.
Luigis Mansion (platformer)
Not 2D.
Pokémon Box (????)
This game is an encyclopedia of Pokemon. I wouldn't bother calling it 2D or 3D.
teenage mutant ninja turtles (platformer)
Not really 2D.
The Legend of Zelda: Tetras Trackers (adventure)
This is a party game, like Mario Party.

SC5 is 3d.
If you're gonna consider Smash Bros 3d, then you also have to consider ikaruga, border down, n64 star soldier, yoshi's story, and myriads of other 2d games that use polygons 3d, which they completely and totally are not.
I actually discovered your site a month or 2 ago while looking for info on modern 2D games. I hadn't realized there were so many, and it got me really psyched about getting some more games, Playstation and Saturn in particular.
What I think you need to do though is define 2D. Are you talking about graphics or gameplay? I can understand why you'd want to do the latter, but that's a hell of a lot of games! Once you decide that I'd be glad to help you out.
BTW, aren't games with 3D graphics but 2D gameplay usually called 2.5D?

Good point. Okay, here's what I define as 2D:
Games that take place in two dimensions - up and down, left and right, and that's it. This can also include games with seperate plains that you can interact with, but not in any more than those two dimensions (Guardian Heroes or Galactic Attack, for example). Also games with 3D graphics but 2D gameplay (Strider 2, Pandemonium!, etc), aka 2.5 D games.
Anything that goes outside of those two dimensions, as far as interaction, is 3D. This includes games ranging from Starfox to Super Mario 64 to GTA: Vice City.
Here are some Playstation games I didn't see on your list:
Shooters:
Harmful Park
Run-N-Gun:
Gunners Heaven
Platformers:
Norse by Norsewest
Fighting:
Gekka no Kenshi / The Last Blade
