Can folks share some opinions on these games? I believe the ones I would be interested in picking up are the DC and PS1 games. How good are they? Are they worth it, and are there enough differences to pick up both? I just saw the movie and it was pretty badass.

I'd go for the Dreamcast one just based on looks alone.

AFAIK, they're not much different at all.

The Evil Dead games are mediocre. Hail to the King is a bankrupt man's Resident Evil, and THQ knew A Fistful of Boomstick was a dog and shipped it at $20. They both have gobs of Bruce Campbell voice work, but better to spend your money on the Evil Dead 2 DVD, which has one of the best audio commentaries ever.

The PS1 Resident Evil clone pretty much bored me, even as a fan of the films (and the Resident Evil series for that matter). Control is even worse than Capcom's efforts. Played through the PS2 Fistful of Boomstick, and it was an entertaining rental (in vein of State of Emergency, and using that game engine), but nothing more. Still waiting for a homerun...

I have Hail To The King for PS1. The control is pretty bad and I find it frustrating to play at times. This is rather a shame since I'm a huge fan of the movies.

Hey, pal, it looks to me like you're in charge of only two things here: Jack and shit, and Jack just left town.

LOL

Wasn't that quote from Army of Darkness (not Evil Dead)?

Correct sir. Army of Darkness aka Evil Dead III. Picks up right where EDII left off.

Aw man, I liked Fistful of boomstick. Granted, Hail to the King was painfully awfully bad, but Fistful was fun, and a sort of narrative continuation of Army of Darkness. Worth 20$, or the 35 I paid for it.

I liked Boomstick up until that absurdly overcomplicated forest maze. Mazes are a gameplay element that should stay in the 1980s forever.

Complicated? It had like 3 turns. Granted I had to turn the gamma way up on my tv so I could /see/ the frikking walls...

I must've chosen my paths poorly, then, although I recall the Tips & Tricks guide dedicating a beefy chunk of text to navigating that level.

Oh dammit. I'd never seen any of those movies until this past week. I saw Army of Darkness and THEN Evil Dead (in a weird bit of coincedence), not knowing they were related at all. Just last night I said to my wife "how messed up is it that the two old horror movies I chose to watch this week both starred the same actor I've never heard of before, and he kicked ass".

I own them both, and I like FoB quite a bit. I didn't mind HttK, but I don't like it enough to really want to go through it anytime soon.

Anyone seen that cheesy Zelda II ROM hack entitled Evil Dead?
