I watch the episode "soul survivors" of the second season of Knight Rider yesterday and i was surprize to seen Michael Knight playing Pacman (it's look like the 5200 or Atari 8 bits version) inside KITT !!!!!

Also, in this episode, KITT was "hack" by a young hacker and he control the car with..........a Atari 2600 joystick !!!!!!!

It's been years since I saw that.. but I was a HUGE Knight Rider geek - and you are correct sir, on both counts. It's not arcade Pac man, but damned close. My guess is Atari 5200 Pac man. Steering KITT with a stick and one button would be murder. :P

Anyone else remember how often the sound effects from Centipede and the 2600 Donkey Kong were used in programs and movies- even if it was an "arcade" scene from the mid-1990s?

You betcha. They STILL use those same sound fx today (2600 Pac-Man is another staple), remember the recent Circuit City commercial too...

Reason being, they're all instantly identifiable as video games. :D

That's the funniest part, though: you'll have a character playing the latest console or arcade game and yet, you still hear the DK jump sound (never really heard any other sound being used, to tell the truth). At least in the Knight Rider episode, Pac-Man was a then-current game.
