Xbox for Emulation?

So, since Xbox prices have been dropping and I just finished up some freelance work and have a little extra cash, so I was thinking about the Xbox and here are some questions:

How is the Xbox for emulation?

Which emus are the best or each system?

Does MAME run as well as it would on a comparable PC?

I've been curious about this, but I have been hesitant to make the purchase mainly from an emulation stand point because I keep on thinking back to the Dreamcast where the emulation was fun, but many did not run well and the interfaces were never very good.
