Well, since Psyvariar 2 is coming to the DC, it seems only natural that a DC game goes to the PS2.

"Atlus announced they will release a PlayStation 2 port of Psikyo's classic shooters Gunbird 1 & 2 in Japan on February 19, for 4800 yen"

Any idea whether a U.S. release is planned? Or will this remain exclusively "import mania"?

Not that it matters much to me personally, as I already have Gunbird (JP Saturn), Mobile Light Force (U.S. PSX, "wobble mode" and MILF) and Gunbird 2 (U.S. DC). But still...

ok so Mobile Light Force is gunbird and 2 is 2.

now whats better for each 1 and 2?

the DC (import or not) or the psx/ps2 versions?

I just played 2 in th arcades and i love it....so i want it for home, whats the better version of it?(I can handle dc and psx/2 imports)

I can't tell you one way or the other with respect to Gunbird 2. But for the original Gunbird, if you're not going to import the new compilation, then definitely go with the JP Saturn version over the renamed US PSX version ("Mobile Light Force"). MLF only has the display mode that Psikyo calls "Original 2", which doesn't show the entire playfield at once. So while the background is scrolling down, you also scroll up and down along the vertical extent of the playfield, only seeing about 80% of it at any one time. The dual scrolling nature of Original 2 mode can be disorienting and difficult. Some refer to it as "wobble mode". Also, the JP Saturn version of Gunbird has "Arcade" mode (aka Tate), in which you flip your TV on it's left side to recreate the vertical moniter experience, and "Original 1" mode, in which the playfield is stretched and/or cropped a bit, but fully playable (and most likely the way you'll play it, unless you like tipping the TV).

From what I understand, MLF is a direct translation of the JP PSX version (minus the cutscenes), so I'd avoid all PSX versions of Gunbird / MLF.

And I haven't read anything about what features the compilation has. I'm sure there's a discussion about it at shmups.com, though.
