View Full Version : My PS2 is open so I figure I should ask...

What all should I do to make it read blue discs? I read the guide at TechTV, which says to move the white notched gear, which I did, and my PS2 reads DVD games better now, but still not blue discs. Any suggestions?

Nevermind. Fixed it. Just had to move that gear so that the disclaser-thingy was pushed as far as it could be into the PS2 (if it was pushed too far, it would release the pressure and the lens would spring back up). Now I can play 4/15 of my games! Goodee!

Did you clean it? Did you mark the original position? Some versions reset that white disc automatically when you power off the PS2.

the problem is probably not the white gear but the CD grid (pot located on the Laser unit itself adjusts this). if you have any greater knowledge in handling an oscilloscope there are great guides out there on how to fix this problem.

I broguth it to a friend's house yesterday, put in a DVD game, and it didn't work :angry: As it turns out, I set it to ONLY play blue discs... I opened it at his house, narrowed down to the area where it would read blue and then silver, tried all notches in between, and came to the conclusion that my PS2 cannot read both at the same setting. The closest was that it would read ble ones fine, and would continuously read silver ones (Never stopped). Oh well, I guess I'll just leave it unscrewed but covered for now until after I'm done with Christmas games to send it in to Sony.
